About
Forgotten Highways is our concept for a series of documentaries exploring the backroads and scenic highways of America. The format follows the same recipe as our successful television show, Two Wheel Oklahoma.
The first of this series will be Forgotten Highways: the Ozark Trail. This documentary will reveal the history of this forgotten road by researching the people, visiting the places and examining the legends.
Mother of the Mother Road
Before Route 66 became America's Main Street there were private efforts to cobble together cross-country highways. One of these was the Ozark Trail, a route stretching from St Louis, Missouri to Las Vegas, New Mexico and marked by unusual stone obelisks. Much of this road would later become Route 66, which has prompted some to call the Ozark Trail the "Mother of the Mother Road." The story of this road is a uniquely American tale of ingenuity, showmanship and greed that, at times, verges on bizarre.

Brad and Rex from Two Wheel Oklahoma will take you on a video tour of the Ozark Trail. Travelling by motorcycle allows us to explore the hard-to-reach stretches and ghost towns this route once passed through. We will uncover history long forgotten, the people behind it and the schemes that promised to make boomtowns.
This project will finance the filming, production and promotion of a documentary film called Forgotten Highways: The Ozark Trail. Once completed this documentary will be submitted to a number of major film festivals, PBS and national cable and satellite television networks.

Risks and challenges
Brad Mathison and Rex Brown have been producing a great travel show called Two Wheel Oklahoma since 2009. Their style focuses on life off the beaten path, meeting unique people and discovering unusual tidbits of history. They have assembled a great production crew capable of filming on-the-road adventure.
For the past year they have been researching the history and personalities behind this forgotten highway. They are ready to get the cameras rolling and tell the story of the Ozark Trail.
