Ever wondered what goes into making a sculpture? It’s their last year at RISD and they want to show you what happens behind those big blue foundry doors. Introducing the Sculpture Class of 2016 coming together for their sexy calendar debut. Here’s your chance to see the makers, their personalities and more, bared for your titillation. See what gets their creative juices flowing. With each new month, you’ll be greeted by one of our alluring artists hard at work. The Sexy Sculpture Calendar is sure to inspire, so don't be afraid to throw some green their way. The sculptors of 2016 will use the proceeds from these must have calendars to rent an off campus venue for their thesis work.
Risks and challenges
After our project is successfully funded, we will publish our calendars and begin to sell them to students on campus as well as alumni and others who are looking to support our class and receive a calendar for their generosity. We will face the challenge of finding an affordable venue to showcase our thesis work as well as adequate transportation for student work. Even though Sculpture is a relatively small department at RISD, and one that encompasses a vast array of skills, we often feel we have limited resources and space to accommodate everyone. However, our lack of adequate facilities has required us to develop our sense of resourcefulness, collaboration, and community. We plan on appealing to this community of alumni and faculty to advise us as well as lend themselves as resources for transportation, installation, and publicity. Many RISD sculpture alumni currently rent out spaces in Providence that would be ideal for our show and we plan on consulting them about the process of renting and using the funds from our project to ultimately secure a space.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
