We are excited to introduce Furnace, a cold water equipment company based in Portland, Maine. Furnace is dedicated to building a brand that celebrates the passion and dedication of cold water athletes by developing products that keep them warmer, longer.
Furnace was born when co-founder, Sam Palmer, replaced one of his neoprene gloves with an orange latex dish glove, a fleece liner and sealed it with duct tape. He dreamed of keeping his hands lighter and warmer by using air as insulation rather than water used in neoprene gloves. We’ve been prototyping, testing, and refining the Response Dry Gloves ever since.
About Our Funding
This Kickstarter will fund the manufacture of our 2nd generation Response Dry Glove.
The RDG2 improves on our original design in following ways:
- The patent pending bite valve technology will be integrated into the dry glove. The bite valve allows you to blow warm air into your gloves frequently and easily throughout a session.
- A higher quality Polartec fleece liner glove will be included.
- The dry glove cuff will better anchor the wetsuit sleeve and prevent cold water from flushing up the arm.
- Finger volume will be increased for better insulation.
- A new tube seal geometry will improve circulation to the hand.

Risks and challenges
GLOVE SIZING: The Response Dry Gloves are currently available in mens Large only. Until we can afford to purchase glove molds in several sizes, a more comprehensive size offering will have to wait. Should this Kickstarter push well past our funding target, offering the RDG2 in additional sizes is a top priority.
DELIVERY: We will do our best to deliver your reward on time. Please understand, we're a small team and do all of our own design work, quality inspection, packaging, stocking, shipping, and returns.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
