"In this peril Cirion's thought turned at last in desperation to the Éothéod, and he determined to send messengers to them. But they would have to go through Calenardhon and over the Undeeps, and then through lands already watched and patrolled by the Balchoth before they could reach the Vales of Anduin. This would mean a ride of some four hundred and fifty miles to the Undeeps, and more than five hundred thence to the Éothéod, and from the Undeeps they would be forced to go warily and mostly by night until they had passed the shadow of Dol Guldur."
Cirion and Eorl, Unfinished Tales
Horn of Gondor is a fan film and tribute to the work of J.R.R. Tolkien. We love his books and decided to make a short film about Middle-earth - independent, non-commercial, from fans to fans.
Tolkien's world is much more than just The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, but also an incredible number of other stories published posthumously in anthologies such as The Silmarillion or Unfinished Tales. From the latter, we chose to interpret a powerful story of the hero Borondir and Gondor´s first call for aid.
Although we hold Jackson’s Lord of the Rings in high esteem, in Horn of Gondor, we want to present the material differently, keeping strictly to the JRRT descriptions.
Besides the visual, we will focus on linguistics – with dialogue not only in Common Speech, but also in Black Speech and Anglo-Saxon, in order to be as loyal as possible to the source material.
Tolkien's books have changed our lives, and we have been studying, interpreting, and creating costumes and artistic renditions of his works for many years. Each one of us enjoys something different in the creative process and thus we will be able to develop the whole project in a comprehensive way. We all still have one thing in common - we do it out of love for the stories, without the right to compensation.
That is why we will not make any money on this film - it will be available on the internet to all JRRT fans who wish to see it.
Is this an official film?
Horn of Gondor is not an official prequel and is NOT AFFILIATED with Tolkien Enterprises, the Tolkien Estate, Peter Jackson or New Line.

We are still at the beginning of the project- though we shot some scenes already, the length of the film is still an open question. In the basic version of the script, the planned runtime is 15 minutes. However, if we succeed in reaching the third or fourth goal, we could expand the plot and increase the runtime up to 30 minutes. In case of achieving the fifth or even the sixth goal, we would completely rewrite the script, enrich it with new characters and motives, and thus the length would extend to 60 minutes.
The film takes place about five hundred years before the events of the Lord of the Rings, in the year 2510 of the Third Age. Gondor must go to war; coming from the east, hordes of wild Balchoths, the descendants of the Wainriders, with whom the Southern Kingdom led long and bloody wars in the days of the Kings, unexpectedly sailed up the Great River and flooded into Calenardhon. At the same time, Orcs descended from the Misty Mountains as if they sensed the weakness of their enemies.
The Ruling Steward Cirion, in a desperate position, remembered the nation of the Horse Lords, who in its own tongue was named Éothéod. Their ancestors once stood alongside Gondor in the wars with the Wainriders, but since then, there has been nothing heard of the mysterious group. Cirion sent north Six riders to the Anduin stream to try and find help from the half-forgotten nation. The messengers were chased and followed, and eventually killed, until only one was left - Borondir Udalraph, Rider of Last Hope ...

Our latest film, the crossover Guns and Powder, engaged audiences through its local settings and action scenes.
Common to all of our activities is that we do them in our free time and without the right to compensation. Just out of joy, because we like to create.
Vzpamatovali jsme z Prach a broky a začali vymýšlet, co bychom zase spáchali.
Risks and challenges
Film production has many pitfalls, especially in postproduction, so the biggest risk is failure to hold ourselves to the schedule. Although we have a lot of experience with filming and the whole project is planned in great detail, delays in production can always happen.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
