Alexander O. Smith and Joseph Reeder Join the Team, Revised Stretch Goals, and AMA Today with Playdek's Senior Game Designers!

Hello everyone!

In the days following the Kickstarter campaign we have been looking at our Stretch Goals to see if there is a way we can move things around in order to improve the look, feel, and game play for Unsung Story. In reevaluating our goals, we have been able to talk with Alexander O. Smith and Joseph Reeder about their involvement with the project.

After talking things over with them we have been able to work out a way to bring them onto the team, so it is official! Alexander O. Smith and Joseph Reeder are joining the Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians team!

Because of this news, we have been able to revise the Stretch Goals! We moved some things up and even combined a few so check them out:

  • $750,000 – New Game + and Co-Operative Play (2v2 and 2vAI)
  • $1,000,000 – PS Vita and Arena Mode
  • $1,250,000 – PS4 and Map Creator
  • $1,500,000 – Nintendo 3DS and Challenge Mode
  • $1,600,000 – Voice-overs for Unsung Story
  • $1,700,000 – Full Orchestra Recording, Bonus Music Tracks, and Live Concert by Hitoshi Sakimoto

Also we will be hosting an AMA with the game designers working on the Unsung Story card game later today, and they will be able to answer questions on how the game will play, what mechanics you will find in the game, what inspired them while creating the game, and even questions about themselves and how they got into Game Design!

You can join us on the Unsung Story Reddit here and post up your questions now:

And as a reminder, our PayPal packages will only be available on our website until next Friday, March 7, 2014, so if you haven’t you may want to look at the different add-ons since there is a chance not all of these add-ons will be available after this deal ends!

PayPal Donations:

Thank you again for all of your support, and we hope to see you later at the Reddit AMA!

So glad co-op was moved up!

@Annam: Really? Huh? Well, I guess I understand why, but I think it would do Kickstarter some good to allow for some after project support. While they may not profit from fees, I think the PR would be good for them. Ultimately, I'm not marketing guy, so what do I really understand about that. Anyway, I guess the next best thing for the project would be to get this update to major video game news outlets; should increase the expose to at least get us to the new New Game+ goal.

@HolyPaladin Dont think kickstarter allows edits to main page after a project have ended

It also might be a good to update the main page with the revisions from this update because some visitors might not check the updates to see if anything has changed.

      +1 to Alan's comment.

Can you define Arena/Challenge mode in any more detail? I'd be pumped about both.

    7. Creator Michael Mc on February 27, 2014

Glad to see the new stretch goals !!
Hope we can get to the 750,000 $ goal soon :) !

    8. Creator Brett Schwartz on February 27, 2014

Cool, glad to see them on the team!

Yeah, hopefully we hit a few of those stretch goals.

Alan we are working on putting that together! Once we have a counter made we will host it up on our website, however if that takes too long to make I will be sure to keep a running tally on our forums!

I'd like to see just how far the campaign has made it towards the goals with the Paypal additions.

Bertrand a lot of thought went into the decision of where to place the platform goals and while I can't talk specifics I can say that part of it was due to the requests we saw coming in from players. Personally I would love to see it on both so more people can play!
We wanted to make sure that we could give you guys as much as possible which is why we combined some of the platforms and mechanics erratic. This way everyone can receive something from each stretch goal regardless of whether or not they have the specified platform. :)
And thanks Asa and Langdon! Glad to see your comments!
Also don't forget to post up a question about the Unsung Story Card Game! Our Senior Game Designers have been working on this game from the ground up and are ready to share insight with you as to how it will play, the challenges you will face, and their inspiration for the game! Some of their answers may surprise you! ;)

That's the problem with rearranging stretch goals, everyone has a opinion on how you should have ordered them differently! Personally I'm just glad that Alexander O. Smith and Joseph Reeder are joining the team.

I'd like to see some of the useful features broken away from the ports as far as stretch goals. Map Creator in particular sounds far more useful than a vita, ds, or ps4 port.

    14. Creator Langdon Oliver on February 27, 2014

I'd prefer a Vita port over a 3Ds port, so I'm happy where the stretch goals are. :)

    15. Creator Bertrand Guérin-Williams on February 27, 2014

It's great to see both of them join the team! :D
One question, though: Why would you put Vita before 3DS in the stretch goals? Is it a question of porting/coding or licensing fees? Or something else entirely?
