“Deeply character-driven, Shattered With Curve of Horn is a mystery story that unwinds through an uncomfortable conversation that digs at the trio’s battered friendship before taking a turn for the more fantastical.” -Lauren Davis io9.com
“Perspective of a true artist – check. Draws a big picture & makes a great point – check. Enters a rarely explored territory of graphic novels – check. What territory, you say? Metaphysics.” - Luke Anthony TheOuthousers.com
On the eve of his major new exhibition of paintings, prosperous artist Matthew and his wife Caitlin, a pharmaceutical company administrator, encounter an old friend, a philosophical ex-con named Pierce. Pierce confronts the couple about the enigmatic, experimental drug that they took eight years ago, and the puzzling circumstances that led to his incarceration. In light of Pierce’s revelations Matthew must fight to keep his marriage and career secure, for the secret of all his success may have sprung directly from Pierce’s tragedy.
With subtle sci-fi overtones and a noir sensibility, Shattered With Curve of Horn is an intimate look at the threads of friendship and history, how they can become re-woven by time, and completely altered by the powerful warp of creative ideas.
Shattered With Curve of Horn has been a labor of love for the past year. I set out to make a full-length, full-color graphic novel and I've just recently put the finishing touches on the revisions. I began posting two pages online every Monday in November of 2012. Though the graphic novel exists as a free-to-read webcomic, the project's natural state is the printed page. I want to print this book and get it out into the world. That's where you come in. The $7500 goal is for printing costs with a printer in the United States. Anyone who pledges at any level will receive either a handsome printed or digital copy of the book before the story finishes running online.
FRONT PAGE UPDATE (11/13/13):
Okay, so far we've done it! And since we hit all our early interior goals here's a breakdown of all the extras you awesome backers have already accrued (and new backers, you'll get all this too!):
-Every backer is in the running for the random selection of five individuals for cameo appearances in an upcoming graphic novel project.
-Backers at $20 or above will receive a printed copy of the Nightswimming mini-comic, a printed copy of Greasemonkey as well as a button just like the one that Pierce wears in Shattered With Curve of Horn.
-Every backer between $5 and $19 will receive digital copies of Nightswimming and Greasemonkey along with their digital copy of Shattered With Curve of Horn.
So let's have some serious talk about stretch goals. We did it! Shattered With Curve of Horn will be printed hardcover! I'm full of complete ecstasy right now, and it's hard to put into words. Yes! So, what's next? Well, we got about a day and a half left. If we can hit $11,000 in that time not only will I be able to print 1000 copies of Greasemonkey, instead of 500, but I'll also be able to give Shattered some swank printed endsheets (the interior covers). It's not out of the question that we could get there, friends! Look how much we've done so far.
We got 500 copies of Greasemonkey comin'!

Risks and challenges
Normally the risks involved in funding the printing of a graphic novel might involve delays in production, or infighting between ordinarily cohesive members of a group. None of those problems apply to this project as I'm a solo operator and the book has already been completed. I've contracted a reliable, professional printer, who is waiting in the wings to print the book as soon as I give them the go ahead. The only foreseeable obstacle that needs to be overcome for the printing of this book is the actual funding itself.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
No, the $20 pledge is for just the book alone, no frills, as if you were buying it in a store. $20 + $5 would get you the book and the Digital copy, or there's the bundle for $29 which gets the signed book w/ drawing inside and the digital copy.
Yes, though there a few exceptions. The pivotal 8 page dream sequence is off limits, as are a few pages that have been set aside for other reasons. At the end of the Kickstarter drive I will send out a survey and you'll be asked which interior page you prefer if you have a preference. If you'd like to leave it up to me that's fine too. One other note to keep in mind is that the majority of pages are on single 11" x 17" sheets of bristol board, but there are a few pages that were constructed out of drawings on a few sheets of paper, usually when I would decide to redraw a panel.
Those that bid at $20 or above will receive a copy of Greasemonkey and Nightswimming along with their copy of Shattered when I ship those out. If you back between $5 and $19 you'll get a digital copy of Greasemonkey and Nightswimming when you receive your digital copy of Shattered.
