About

Like arcade games of the 80's and 90's?

Nick's Redemption, a new spin on the 1980's Donkey Kong add's something new to platform gaming. "Community Driven Development".

We want to give the community the thrill of designing new levels, sharing them and watching friends compete for the best time.

By building a level editor the games development takes on a life of its own. Where objects can be dragged onto the game landscape, the level saved, and shared for the community to enjoy.

Our goal is to build the level editor. But perhaps a broader goal for the future will be to build games the community wants to play. Adopting an "open kitchen" approach to game development, where we share whats in the oven, and ask the community for feedback.

One possible incarnation of the game can be played here:

The game features Nick, our hero, who must beat the Devil to free his Soul.

So far we have artwork for the three characters, and endless storyboards describing game behavior.

The game has been developed in HTML 5 which allows the greatest flexibility in terms of possible platforms. We have tested the game on mobile tablets, however, for this project the Level Editor will be browser based only.

With your help, we can deliver the level editor by the end of October. And start what we hope will be the first of many little projects in the spirit of community game development.
