Just to make things clear…
We had a couple Backers make a very good suggestion that we place our table for rewards and postage at the top of the main page, so it is clear to everybody! So here it is:
To avoid confusion, and be sure you get your reward, please be sure you have pledged the correct amount for your reward level and geographic location.
And remember… to select the multi-coloured set option for your rewards, please adjust your pledge up $10 for every multi-coloured set. You can have a combination of solid colour and multi-coloured, but each multi-coloured set is $10 extra. We will be running a survey to our backers, using BackerKit, after the end of the campaign to make sure everybody is getting his or her desired colour choices.
Stretch Goal Released Early!
It looks like we are going to make it to the $30,000 stretch goal! So, we are just going to add the stretch goal now.
The Periodic Table Frame
This frame will be made exactly like the tiles: laser etched acrylic, painted letters and laser cut.
It will require the same amount of material as the tiles, and will be 12 pieces, puzzle fit, include 24 magnets, and ‘snap’ together around your tiles to keep them organized!
The cost will be only $20, including shipping… anywhere!
Because this reward came about because of you guys sending in your suggestions, it wasn’t even on our radar when we started our campaign. We had another stretch goal in mind, but this one was way better! Because of that, we have not finalized the design, or been able to make a prototype to show you. For that reason, if you want a frame, sight unseen, you can certainly adjust your pledge by $20 and we will include it in your reward, or you can wait to see it later, as we will be offering it through BackerKit, after the campaign has ended.
To be very clear: We will be communicating with every single Backer, through BackerKit, at the conclusion of our campaign, to make sure everything runs smoothly and everybody receives their rewards as quickly as possible!
Thank you for your continued support!

This Almost Didn't Happen!
Ever have one of those AH-HA! moments!? See something, get an idea, and then Google it only to find somebody else has already done it? Of course you have!
Ever had an idea, done nothing about it and then found out later somebody had done it after you would have and is now living on a boat in the South Pacific? Yup!
Well, somewhere in the middle of that is where I saw something, and thought "Somebody has done that", and then... I forgot about it!
From the very first time I watched Breaking Bad, I figured somebody had already jumped on this idea... so, I just ignored it! I am a serial inventor, always coming up with crazy ideas, and I used to keep a list of 'stupid ideas' on my iPhone. After Kickstarter, I renamed the file 'Kickstarter Ideas'. Well, I had a look at the list the other day, and what do I see?
When I Googled it, I was shocked! Really? No one has done this?
That's when this process started... I gathered a team!
How are Scrabble Tiles made? Can we make them the same way? Should we make them the same way? Should they be the same size? What kind of wood do they use? Should we even use wood? Do they have to be the same? The questions went on and on... until we finally came up with this...
They HAD to be strong, durable Acrylic!
They HAD to be accurate!
They HAD to have white lettering!
They HAD to use very strong Rare Earth Magnets , and
They HAD to be handmade.... just like Heisenberg's Meth!
Before moving on to the transparent acrylic sheets, we tested our program on a wood sheet.
Then we tweaked the program to make it run faster and then, when we had the program right, we cut the acrylic!
And here they are, 20mm x 20mm (3/4" x 3/4") tiles with 6mm diameter (1/4"), NdFeB, N42 Type, Rare Earth Magnets on the back. I hate it when you can't even hang up a picture on the fridge without it sliding down! That's why the Rare Earth Magnets.... they cost more but they are strong!
The 'Walter Green'
The 'Opening Credits'!
And for fun...
a Bio Hazard Bag to hold them in!
And for fun...
a Bio Hazard Bag to hold them in!
How Strong are these Magnets?
That's the whole set up there... without magnets on them... 118 tiles!
Here are the Colors...
'Walter' Green... Money Baby!
Blood Red 'Gus'!
'Saul' Yellow... What else!
'Heisenberg' Blue... that's Meth Blue!
- Forget all that level crap!
You spoke and we listened! At the end of the campaign we will send out a survey and you will pick any damn color you want! Any combination, for any reward! Ummm... except the 'Opening Credits'. Those will have to stay 'Walt' Green only, I'm afraid.
You want 5 'Meth' Blue? You get 5 'Meth' Blue!
You want 1 'Walt' Green and 2 'Meth' Blue? You got it!
You want the 'Pinkman' ? It's all yours!
All kidding aside, this isn't just an homage to your favorite TV show of all time, it is a fun and interactive way to learn the Periodic Table of Elements. Keep them on your fridge and spell new words each day.
Get multiple sets and build compounds or molecules!
***** New Colours Added! *****
As a BIG THANK YOU to our supporters for getting us to our funding goal of $15,000 and, over the top to $20,000! We are adding FOUR colours to choose from!
and, just for Fun... Neon Green!
A note on the Rewards Levels and Delivery
We have backers all around the globe: Australia, Germany, the UK, Russia, Israel, Singapore, Japan, Sweden, Switzerland… who knew the reach of Breaking Bad and Kickstarter! In an effort to keep costs down for all, we tried to design the rewards with 3 tiers of delivery:
- Free delivery within Canada
- An additional fee for the United States (which was the “outside Canada” option on Kickstarter, and
- A final additional fee for deliveries World Wide.
These suckers are heavy! 118 tiles, with magnets, bag, and envelope is over 250g (half a pound)! That’s a lot of stamps!
Please have a look at the rewards table below, and pledge according to your geographic location.
Thank you again for your continued support, Andrew Barron and the entire ‘Heisenberg Team’!
What Kickstarter is for ...
We believe in a high quality, finished product. We could hammer out about one a week if we had to carve by hand, but we ain't in no RV anymore... we need a lab and a CO2 laser to do it right!
So we need you, to raise enough start-up to afford the use of the Laser Cutter!
Risks and challenges
We have every reason to believe that we will make our target dates for delivery. And why not? It's not rocket science, just Laser time and labor. Once we have funding we will begin production and will start mailing Rewards within 16 weeks or sooner!
There is the very slim chance that a certain corporate giant will take offense to our tongue in cheek offering and call for a halt to our campaign, but we really do not intend any infringement on trademarks or copyrights to the popular TV show, and don't anticipate any hassles. We are just trying to make a fun and tactile way to encourage the use of the tiles to help Chemistry buffs and students learn the periodic table.
So have fun and Tweet us your word creations @heisenbergtiles, and be sure to include the hashtag #heisenbergtiles and we will share them with our followers.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
