"Bicycle Day" - An LSD Origin Story
How would you know you were tripping on acid if you were the first person to ever trip on acid?
The story of Dr. Albert Hofmann is an interesting one -- an unassuming Swiss botanist, who very purposefully created LSD, then very accidentally spilled it on his hands, and evidently wound up being the first to learn of it's psychoactive effects. BICYCLE DAY is a fictionalized retelling of Dr. Hofmann's story and famous LSD-induced bicycle ride, combining live action sequences with digital and hand drawn animations from animators all over the country. It's a home-grown, nation-spanning, locally-produced, mind-bending, eye-opening, trippy-good time of a film and we want each and every one of you to be a part of it with us.
In March 2012, Solano Pictures won the first annual Serious Film Challenge in Albuquerque, NM. With their prize winnings, they made it a goal to spend every penny to truly capture the unparalleled beauty of the New Mexico landscape on their next project. BICYCLE DAY is that project, and we will make our goal -- but not without your help! Our talented team of film industry professionals will be traveling to all four corners of the great state of New Mexico to capture its various landscapes and charm and display it on the largest screen available for optical consumption. We've been developing the project for 2 years, and endlessly research new experimental camera techniques to tell the story the way it should be told. And make it look damn good, too.
BICYCLE DAY will be submitted to film festivals across the world, sweeping viewers off their feet and charming them one by one until someone gives us a million dollars. But until then, we really just want to share an interesting story that the average acid-dropper might not know.
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
'Course, filmmaking ain't cheap. We are raising funds to pay for food and water to feed our crew, to rent high quality equipment, costumes, props, location permits, crew transportation, and other associated fees and expenses.
