Welcome to Shackleton Crater!

Posted by Joseph Ybarra (Creator)

My fellow gamers and space enthusiasts – I can’t thank you all enough for the incredible response we are having to this unique idea. For me, Shackleton Crater is more than just a strategy game. Looking back at my history, I helped create and shape the game industry. I was involved in literally dozens of strategy games. Although I thoroughly enjoyed those projects and wouldn’t trade what I did for anything, I must admit that this particular project calls to me. Shackleton Crater is different because it speaks to what is important to me: exploration and colonization of the stars – it is my passion and now I am going to combine it with my other passion: games.

Shackleton Crater is filled with space travel and hard science fiction. It is the stuff I daydream about. This is the game I always wanted to bring to fruition. It is a game that lets players have fun while making strategic decisions about how we, as humans, could one day advance ourselves into the stars. With Shackleton, we give players the ability to change our own collective future, create new, fascinating advanced technologies, earn economic security through trade and production, and explore a new frontier that was once thought to be uninhabitable. Using our research and gamer experiences, combined with the research made available by many space agencies around the world, we will give players an experience that they can be proud to not only play, but also share with family and friends, letting them see how they are making a difference in our future.

We want gamers and others to come back and use this unique product over and over again to test various simulations which is why we are designing it with an infinite amount of combinations for replayability. Basically, every player will have the opportunity to create dynamic styles of play that will allow them to adapt to whatever happens in this fantastic new environment. We'll talk a lot about the game play of Shackleton Crater in future updates.

If reading this brief message has you as excited as I am about this opportunity, then I respectfully ask for your help. We created this Kickstarter page to not only get the word out about our project but also help get others involved by giving them a chance to make history with us. In return, you will not only be backing a great game, but you will be part of our history and forever linked with this project.

In return for teaming with us, you’ll receive updates on our development, help our developers cross the many stumbling blocks ahead in terms of lunar construction, and be one of the first to actually use the simulation and make a difference. Please join with us today and take the first step by visiting the front page and then choose a way to get involved. Not only will my team and I be grateful, but your support might make all the difference as we move toward creating the best lunar strategy game to date.
