Friends! Freedom Fighters! ABOLITIONISTAS!
CAP AND GOWN
I had been hoping to have ABOLITIONISTA! completed and published by now...but things have slowed down. Our artist, the remarkable Delilah Buckley, is finishing school at the Art Institute of Atlanta, and though she originally thought she would be able to complete her school work and work on our manga comic book at the same time, she underestimated how rigorous her academic demands would be. She'll be through with school this Friday after which she will be working full time on ABOLITIONISTA! I estimate that we'll have it published and delivered some time in July. Although I'm glad that Delilah set aside our manga project to focus fully on her school work, (I can't help thinking school is always first priority) I assure you, after her graduation on Friday, she and I will do everything in our power to get you the highest quality fulfillment of our project as quickly as possible.
In the mean time, I have not been idle. I've called on guest editors to bring their expertise to the project and bring ABOLITIONISTA! to a high degree of polish. Here are a few of the people who have been working on the script: Valerie Gallaher, formerly of DC Comics and now with MTV Geek, Dallas Middaugh of Random House (one of the largest publishers of manga in the US), and Steve Susoyev of Moving Finger Press (who is co-partering with me to publish Abolitionista!) Together, these editors have had over 50 years experience in editing, and they have examined the comic book with their experts' eye and brought a professional sheen to our vibrant, moving story.
In addition, I've had Rona Lane from Child Abuse Prevention Program (the only organization certified to teach child abuse prevention in NY schools) read over it with an eye for how effectively this story models the skills that people need to know to protect themselves from predators. Rona is so excited about our project that she has become one of our biggest supporters.
And there's more: Pamela Rose (who you might have seen on the second season of NBC's The Voice) has fallen in love our manga and written a jammin' dance anthem around ABOLITIONISTA! I'll be sending you the song and video as soon as the final production is finished.
Fashion Designer, Janelle Stuart, is designing a fashion line around ABOLITIONISTA! and is creating some insanely cool t-shirts and wrist bands for us!
FUN FUN FUN
AND...O.Fishell Productions/Going Down Entertainment is producing a launch party for ABOLITIONISTA! in New York City on Sunday September 1st of Labor Day Weekend. Of course...you're invited! More information to come.
This is just some of the things we've been working on while we've been waiting for our fabulous Delilah Buckle to finish art school. She graduates this Friday, after which, we are committed to getting you the highest quality manga possible. You can expect to receive it in July, and in the meantime, we'll be sending you many more updates to track our progress.
