About this project
Three years ago a client came to Honolulu to work with me. He brought his wife because it was their 25th wedding anniversary and they'd never been before to Hawaii. We usually finished by mid-afternoon, and they wanted to see more of the island. Unfortunately, I wasn't available to drive them around and show off my hometown like I would normally do. They were looking for an affordable, fun alternative to traditional tours. I wished I could duplicate myself and spend some hours with them. Aloha & welcome to DIYToursHawaii!
What Are DIYToursHawaii?
DIYToursHawaii are affordable, fun and easy, just like having friends in the car with you giving you the 'inside scoops' on all that you see, such as history, culture, great personal stories, safety tips, legends, and more! Even better than the current apps available out there or GPS gizmos, our self-guided audio tours share the behind-the-scenes stories of all that you see, with ‘friends’ giving directions who can accurately pronounce those Hawaiian street names and can give you parking advice and account for traffic.
All Oahu tours start in Waikiki, which means 'spouting waters.'
Our volunteer team has spent the past two years pulling together the basic facts, stories and info for twelve walking and driving tours on Oahu, Maui and Hawaii island.
Now we're stuck. We need funds to turn our fun scripts into professional audio tours, complete with music.

Why We're Raising Funds on Kickstarter
We’ve spent the past two years raising funds from family and friends and putting in our own monies (not to mention all our free time) to cover the ‘start-up lean budget.’ We’re stalled because I’m having major surgery in a few days and will be ‘in communicado’ for most likely one full month before I can focus again on this project. (Who would have imagined in this modern techie time?!?) Good thing we’ve got a great team!
By sharing our story, our team can follow up with YOU and move forward when we receive funding.
How You Can Support Us
