Dear Backers,

We have some news to share with you.

The first one concerns the company; we are very happy to announce that three interns have just joined the adventure! It used to be only Robin and Wilfried beforehand, so becoming a 5-person-strong team is quite a change for us. As we are very busy preparing for our Mainland China launch, their help will, for sure, be instrumental. Without any further ado, we are very pleased to introduce:

-Aubrey: Located in Paris, and currently studying for his PHD in Sociology, Aubrey is actively helping us with anything China launch related.

-David: A current exchange student at HKUST, David is also busy with our China launch, but he tends to focus on its social media component more.

-Bianca: An Information Systems and Marketing student at HKUST. Her experience at Tencent made her a social media expert, hence that is what she will be mainly helping with.

The second piece of news is a short manufacturing update. We have recently visited our packaging supplier, and they had just finished a “white prototype” (i.e. without printing or marking) of the cardboard box that will safely house the leather pouch containing your watch. It felt very sturdy, the finish was neat, and the sliding action very smooth. Here is one picture (the high-density foam and printing are still missing):

It may not be obvious, but creating a custom-designed cardboard outer box with volumes as low as ours is really complex!

Here is, for your reference, too, a picture of the artwork Liu Yuguan designed to be printed on it:

Two "sides" of China: the traditional one on the left, and the more modern one on the right

We can’t wait to see and handle the final prototype!

On a final note, Mathieu Meunier, a friend of ours and a talented photographer, has recently handled one Ji prototypes, and he took some wonderful shots along the way. Sharing two here:

Best wishes,

Wilfried and Robin.
