UPDATE: Thanks you so much for all your support and feedback! Sadly we didn't reach our goal, but this is not the end of the story!
So where do we go from here?
See you on the other side!
10 Story-missions and a bonus playground introduce you to the world of NEW ORBIT and the story of Jonah Braun.
Now we are going to take it to the next level!
Episode 2 consists of 3 parts:
Story - The story will continue, it will be longer and even more intense! We’re working on haunting cutscenes, adventure sections that play out inside your shuttle cockpit and a finale like no other. Prepare for a downward spiral like you've never spiraled downwards before!
Challenges - Test your skills and earn rewards. Challenge yourself and challenge your friends! (The "Challenges" tier comes with an additional exclusive mission pack!)
Open Playground - Enter the zone as a Triterian outcast, work your way up, build a mean ship and rule the sector! (The more money we raise the bigger we can make the sector, the more freedom we can give you and the more good stuff we’ll be able to add!)
This time we’re aiming for the big screens too! This is still a perfect game for touchscreens, but now you'll get AAA-quality graphics and game controller support! - Let me tell you: the game plays great with an Xbox 360 controller on an HD TV!
All ships in the game are based on the same modular system - if you see it you can own it. Collect a wide variety of components and build the perfect ship for your play-style!
And some of the reward tiers come with exclusive components that you won't be able to get anywhere else. Ever.
But this is not just a visual system - you’re changing the way the game plays! Every component uses, provides or stores specific amounts of either fuel or energy.
You don't need to worry about all the small details - the game will provide enough guidance to let you enjoy this system even if you ignore its depth! But understanding how all the components work together will let you tweak your ship to the max.
Ship building will play a part in the story, but it will unfold its true power in the open playground!
Want to know more? Let me walk you through a quick example:
Your thruster requires 5 fuel units per second to function at maximum capacity. You have a small fuel tank with a capacity of 100 fuel units and a maximum output of 8 units per second.
Now you want to upgrade to a much stronger thruster that requires 10 fuel units per second - to use it you either have to upgrade to a fuel tank with a higher output or install a second tank to reach the desired level.
Energy works the same way: Your ship’s generator converts fuel into energy to power all the sensors and hardware on your ship. Want to install those new long-range sensors you picked from the debris of an enemy? How about that composition scanner that will allow you to pick much better asteroids for mining? You might just need to get ahold of a more efficient generator or install some solar panels to make it work...
Installing new modules can add new elements to your HUD or change existing elements. You’re truly the architect of your own experience.
The weight of all installed components and the weight of the fuel you carry all add up to the mass of your ship - the same thruster will accelerate a light ship much faster than a heavy ship.
We want you to have a lot of freedom. Our goal is to build a system that gives you a lot of possibilities and is a lot of fun to mess with. Your valued feedback will play a big role in the design from here on out! The more money we raise the more time we can spend creating components and making this system as deep and awesome as possible!
Earth is gone.
Only some survived.
Everyone who could, fled the planet and settled in the asteroid belt.
Years passed, factions formed, WAR ensued over scarce resources and precious knowledge.
You are a young engineer of the Node Collective, lost deep inside enemy territory. Your mothership was on an important mission, but you weren't senior enough to know its goal and purpose. Now here you are - in a tiny, badly damaged shuttle - alone amidst the burning debris of your mothership, with nothing but the cold voice of your computer to keep you company.

We spent all our own funds getting to this point - only with your help can we continue to work at full speed. Please help us take NEW ORBIT to the next level!
Thank you so much for your support - we can't make this game without you!
Let’s find out what’s at the center of the forbidden zone, shall we?
Risks and challenges
We have big plans, and there’s always a risk that something could go wrong along the way. However, we are very confident in our ability to make this game. Episode 1 is done already and we have vastly expanded and rewritten its tech to build Epsode 2. We are a team of experienced people, we have successfully shipped several full games (own and external projects) and we will continue to put all our blood, sweat and tears into this game until its done!
We will send out regular updates on our progress. Should we face difficult decisions down the road, we will ask you (our backers) to help us decide which way to go.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
