About
THE SIMPLE LIFE OF PETER FLYNN (#peterflynnmovie)
Welcome to The Simple Life of Peter Flynn Kickstarter! We are excited that you decided to stop in and check us out. Here's the skinny:
We are well into pre-production, we have a great cast lined up, the locations are locked in, and we know what equipment we want to use...now we just need the funding!
WHO IS PETER FLYNN?
Peter Flynn is an average guy. He works from
home, he has his buddies, and he has his cereal bars. Would he be happy if he
had a little more? Sure. But he's content. Then there's Brenda, Peter's
co-worker. They've never met in person but two people could not be closer.
Their chemistry is obvious. But before they tell each other how they feel, Peter is fired and loses his ability to communicate with Brenda. Does Peter give up? Not a chance. Now the real
challenge begins. Peter goes on a quest to find Brenda and tell her exactly how he feels. All he has to do now is jump a few hurdles...maybe break into a business?
WHY KICKSTARTER/CROWD-FUNDING?
We are committed to telling stories people can relate to, enjoy watching, and maybe even use as a temporary escape from reality. But we simply don't have the resources to fund this on our own. As such, we need your help in making The Simple Life of Peter Flynn a success story.
We specifically chose Kickstarter because it's an all or nothing campaign. That's how we are approaching this project: either we use the actors and equipment needed to make this a professional production or we don't do it at all. We are serious about making the best product possible. This movie will not be half-assed. Period.
EQUIPMENT
We want this to look like every major motion picture you've ever seen. So, how do we accomplish this without a million dollars-worth of film and a Hollywood set? A Canon DSLR camera, perfect lens combo and the appropriate accessories! The Canon DSLR, specifically the 5D series, has quickly become the indie film maker camera of choice because of it's affordability and amazing picture quality. It has also found it's place in box office hits like Captain America, Black Swan, Red Tails and Iron Man 2 as well as hit TV shows like House and 24. So the lesson to learn here: If it's good enough for George Lucas, then it's good enough for us! While the camera and lenses alone will provide the amazing picture quality, the accessories will take it to the next level. Camera gibs, sliders, a follow focus and Glidecam System gives us the opportunity to greatly enhance each shot and will ultimately provide the audience with a much more fluid and interesting piece.
ACTORS
We learned a lesson from our first feature-length production: don't compromise on talent and make sure they share our team values. With the cast we have lined up, we definitely accomplished that goal. Meet the team (click on their pics to learn more about them):

We are excited to tell this story and we want you to be a part of its success. If you have any questions, give us a buzz. See you at the wrap party!

Risks and challenges
As with making any movie, there are potential pitfalls at every turn. So, our contingency plan ensures we stay as far away from those pitfalls as possible.
The biggest culprit? Weather.
Lucky for us, we thought about that when we first started writing the screenplay. Ninety-nine percent of all the scenes are inside, thus all but eliminating weather as an obstacle.
People not showing up.
We've already mitigated this issue by selecting actors with reputations for 1) showing up and 2) being prepared. However, if any of them are unable to make it, we do have replacement options available.
Equipment failure
We will have a back-up camera and lens system ready to roll should anything happen with the camera. We also have a back-up audio-capture platform should our H4N crap out.
Zombie Apocalypse
Duct tape, a book of matches, and an old newspaper. We're good.
