Hi, we're Parsec--a non-profit organization based in Pittsburgh, PA. What you need to know about us is this: we love a good story. The kind of story that takes you to new worlds, lets you ride dragons, or just scares the bejeebers out of you.
Speculative fiction is our passion, and it's been our great pleasure to help bring a good number of amazing stories into the world over the years. Since 2003, our yearly anthology, Triangulation, has provided a paying market for authors to bring us new characters to love, strange planets to explore, and adventures to share. Triangulation is a labor of love, and quite a few people offer their time and talents for free.
Just as soon as our funding goals are met, we will put out the call to authors, internationally. The fun stuff takes a few months: reading all of the stories that pour through our door. After careful consideration, we will pick the best of the bunch, with the aim of presenting them to our readers in June of 2017.
Risks and challenges
This isn't our first speculative fiction rodeo (Imagine elves and dwarves on robotic steampunk bulls). Our biggest challenge is securing the funding to pay the most important people in the process, our authors.
Last year, we read over eight hundred stories and, barring hysterical blindness, we plan to do it all again. Seriously, Parsec is bigger than the editing team assembled and should something happen to one of us the larger group will step up and make this thing happen anyway.
Because, as we've said before, we love speculative fiction. It's what we watch on tv and the internet, it's what we read in our beds, and we're honored to play a part in bringing more great stories to the world.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
