Feudum: The Queen's Army
$64,769
1,543

Oh Bollocks! The Queen's tyranny is spreading into every corner of the kingdom. Her foot soldiers scour the countryside to hunt the behemoth―a bewitched creature that was once her husband. Your small band of rebels will need sharp wits and a bit of luck to save the King and reclaim the land's virtue.
The Queen's Army is the highly anticipated solo variant expansion for the game Feudum, allowing you (and others) to play against an A.I. player! The elegantly crafted automa deck was developed in collaboration with J.R. Honeycutt (developer for Tesla vs Edison: Powering Up!) and Brian Neff. The game rewards wise resource management and requires cunning play to keep the queen's army at bay as it tries to thwart your rise to power!
Additionally, The Queen's Army is being localized in Germany with help from our friends at Spielschmiede! They will handle the german translation upon reaching their crowdfunding goal. All funding raised on Spieleschmiede will count towards unlocking stretch goals here!

Feudum: The Queen's Army features a keenly designed A.I. player that cleverly reacts to game conditions and keeps you guessing with her unpredictable maneuvering. Rounds are played just like the base game with alternating turns, round by round until each epoch is triggered. However, the Queen is less restrained by resource or route requirements making her a powerful force to reckon with! Players may face the Queen alone, or cooperate to defeat her (while still competing for the highest individual score).
The game's solo play is streamlined and elegant like the automa mechanics found in games such as Between Two Cities, Alhambra, Viticulture and Scythe. After countless play tests, developer Brian Neff concluded in the Queen's Army Development Journal that the game is an "incredibly in-depth, challenging and fun experience."

Solo Variant Preview: Developer J.R. delivers a rousing single round run-through of the Queen's Army.
Base Game Complete Rules: Here is a wonderfully crafted animation of the entire rules with subtitles (cc) in English, German, Italian, Spanish (Spain), Spanish (LaAm), Dutch and Greek.

Feudum: The Queen's Army will feature meticulously-crafted components designed by award-winning artist Justin Schultz. Here's what you'll find:

Watch the early rays of morning dance off the armor with a golden Spot Varnish applied to the box!

The regal foil card bears the visage of Atticus—the Queen's royal mount! This particular mandate distracts the Queen's cavalry with lush fields of grass!

The Behemoth’s Grave foreshadows the possible demise of a creature who was once the king. If you fail to save him, solemnly add this piece to the board to unearth his final resting place. Then, with heavy heart, gently lower him into the ground.

This deck of 50 Royal Action Cards is resplendent with gold border and a glittering shaffron adoring the royal steed. The Queen demands the finest. Shouldn’t you?

Forged in fire, this exquisite metal artifact is fit for a Queen! Her Majesty’s Player Disc will sparkle its way around the scoring track, adding a new level of gravity to your game.

The arrows streak the sky at dawn on The Queen’s Army Playmat! This kaleidoscopic mat aligns perfectly with the rays on the game board, and lets you reveal each of the Queen’s dastardly cards in style!

Clad in dazzling armor, the Queen's elite forces are sure to blind you with their fury. These Gilded Pawns represent her finest men and your fiercest foes.

These handsome Score Track Counters will remind you just how soundly you have defeated the Queen, or vice versa.

"The Queen, the all-powerful, indefatigable Queen, is on a rampage across your little world, and there’s nothing you can do about it. Well, almost nothing." — Developer J.R. Honeycutt of Waitress Games
"The automa deck provides a finely tuned challenge for players new to Feudum, and players who have experienced the base game multiple times. With extra difficulty settings, you can even tune your own experience! The Queen's Army has been a pleasure to work on, and I'll be adding it to my collection, even with close to two dozen games under my belt." —Developer Brian Neff of Waitress Games
"The Queen is NOT easy to beat. She recently cleaned my clock, but I will have my revenge" — Tim Maylander, Playtester

"I fought against the Queen’s Army at Geekway—a riveting tale of intrigue, certain death, and a harrowing escape! Leading a solo rebellion against the Queen and rising above her tyranny—is a most gratifying quest for prestige and honor!" — Aaron Martell, Playtester Extraordinaire

Game Designer
Professor by day and game designer by night, I live in Columbia, Missouri with my three splendid daughters. I was Inspired by Eurostyle games in the late 90s and became a fan of legends like Reiner Knizia, Klaus Teuber, Martin Wallace and Andreas Seyfarth. I unveiled my prototype of Feudum at GenCon 2014 and was thrilled to meet and gain insight from folks like Eric Lang, Mike Eliott, Bruno Faidutti and Jamey Stegmaier. I am grateful for Feudum's wonderful reception back in November of 2016 and thrilled by its ever growing community. Check out facebook.com/feudum or BoardGameGeek to learn more.

Artist
As he likes to put it, Justin Schultz is an "earthling living in Jackson, Mississippi." Justin studied graphic design at Mississippi State University and worked for a number of advertising agencies before focusing on concert posters, album covers, package design and, just recently, board game art! His distinctive style of populating his art with monsters, reptiles and robots conjures up memories of children's picture books, albeit slightly skewed. Justin explains that he likes to lure viewers in with "superficially charming images," but then reveal something more "heartbreaking" or "daunting" upon closer inspection. In 2010, Justin started his independent studio, The Flying Chair.

JR lives in Texas with his wife, Amy, and their two cats Buck and Dixie. He spends most of his time squinting at Google documents.
Brian Neff, Developer
Brian Fightmaster Neff (that's his legal middle name) is known for having 1,000 indie RPGs in his mind. He's the MacGyver of storytelling games, which means you can give him a piece of string and a hammer and he'll give you an award-winning tabletop game.
Brian is the brain of Waitress Games, He Craves efficiency in all his gaming, and regularly reminds us of the hidden player experience a game could unleash

Odd Bird Games is partnered with Quartermaster Logistics to get you your rewards! They are powered by CoolStuffInc.com, a business that has been shipping games for over 14 years to customers around the world. Quartermaster Logistics will ensure your packages arrive safe and on time as every game is professionally packed and protected.
How it Works
A short time after the campaign is over, you will receive an email from Backerkit that directs you to a pledge manager where you can confirm or upgrade your pledge, and add base games, expansions or other “add-ons.” (PayPal accepted).
Your Shipping will be automatically calculated at that time based on the total weight of your order. (Backerkit has automated this, so it is a lot easier now!) Note: Rewards from the previous Kickstarter campaign may NOT be delayed to ship with this campaign. Each campaign is on an independent fulfillment schedule.
Backerkit turns overpledges into a credit that may be used as you see fit in the pledge manager.
Shipping Estimates
The rates below are good faith 2018 ESTIMATES of carrier rates (FedEx, UPS) plus freight. (Carriers update pricing in January by as much as 4%, so I was advised to add 4% to current rates to be on the safe side). QM Logistics will be shipping from their international fulfillment centers local to backers so that backers avoid VAT.

Rest of the World Fulfillment
QM logistics is dedicated to finding the most cost-effective delivery solution for backers around the world, therefore, the “Rest of World” rate is merely an averaged estimate. When possible, QM Logistics will use the fulfillment centers that are closest to backers in order to save them money. (For example, fulfilling from China, for East Asia, or fulfilling others from the EU shipping.) Be forewarned, it may be difficult to economically ship to some places in the world, but we will do our best.

Risks and challenges
With one successful Kickstarter campaign under our belts, the rough waters of fulfillment houses, freight shippers, manufacturers and backer relations....have turned to calmer seas!
Of course, we don't take full credit for navigating this ship! We continue to receive generous support from seasoned game designers and key partners in the game industry. We consider them "shipmates."
Our reliable shipmates from the Spieleschmiede translated the base game into German, and endeavor to do the same for the Queen's Army provided they reach their crowdfunding goal. The localization team at Spieleschmiede specializes in German-edition translations and are committed to the highest standards.
Meanwhile, Backerkit will continue to facilitate backer orders with a new and improved system; OTX will ensure that freight shipping goes off without a hitch; and QM Logisitcs will permit our games to ship from within backers' countries of origin. These partnerships will always be marked by transparency and free-flowing communication!
Not too long ago, Odd Bird Games was a methane gas-sniffing canary trapped deep within the bowels of a coal mine. But, by good fortune, we escaped up the shaft towards the light. And now, we are fiercely fluttering toward the heavens.
