I'm Rod Abernethy, composer, guitarist and performing songwriter. That's something I couldn't say until recently.
Forty years can seem like a lifetime, and for me that’s how long it’s been since I put down my acoustic guitar and left my dream of playing for a living to being a composer for a living.
It's now time for me to return to that first love - my acoustic guitar - I've reached a crossroads in my life where I know what I was always meant to do.
And now I have the chance to make the album that I was always meant to make.
In my Kickstarter video, I talk about becoming "The Man I'm Supposed To Be". I'm recording a new double album of originals and other favorites with my good friend and well known producer Don Dixon at the helm.

Your support will help pay for the studio time, CD mastering, artwork, manufacturing, marketing and promotion. Without your help, the release of this album won't be possible.
I'm inviting old and new friends into this project and giving some awesome premiums to thank those who contribute their interest and support. So please take a moment and take a look at the video, I'm really looking forward to having you on board in making this album a reality.
Risks and challenges
Dear friends, I've spent six months preparing for this launch and it has been one of the most rewarding and soul searching efforts I've ever done. Special thanks to my incredible team who gave their time and amazing efforts to making this campaign possible...my wife Suzanne Ruggles, Kari Estrin, Bruce DeBoer, David Burney, Tommy Tallarico, Janet Cowell, JB Nuttle, Neil Hinson, Dick Hodgin, my son and daughter Matt and Sara Abernethy and my dear mother Joyce Abernethy.
I've already taken a risk by not pursuing this dream over the past 40 years, now it's time to make it come true.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
