UPDATE: STRETCH GOALS
- At $4,200, I'll add decorative endpapers to the book. It'll be pretty swanky! (And we've reached this goal! Thanks!)
- At $4,800, I'll make a special print for backers. Anyone getting a physical copy of the book ($15 pledges and above) will get a 4"x5" print. Anyone getting the e-book will get a digital copy.
This will be the fourth volume, collecting comics from 2012 and 2013. Unlike the previous books, Everyone Is Someone's Fetish will be a full-color, offset-printed book.
I'm excited about putting out a really nice quality book. I've always wanted to do it, and through this Kickstarter, I'll finally be able to.
I'm even re-coloring all of the 2012 comics so they match the quality of the newer comics.
What's it about?
Finn and Charlie Are Hitched is a weekly slice-of-life comic about a gay couple, Finn and Charlie, who are married, and their friends. There's Candy, who has just become reacquainted with the daughter she gave up for adoption 22 years ago, Krys. There's Corey, a young gay man trying to figure out who he wants to be, and his on-again, off-again indie-rock boyfriend, Ken, who has become Krys's best friend. There's Finn's neurotic brother Gus, and there's Nina and Mike and their two kids, the very manic Katie, and their special-needs toddler, Bennie.
What people are saying
"…a breath of fresh air in the heteronormative world of slice-of-life comics" —T.J. Grabowy writing for Queerty
"Humor isn't hard to find in comics, and keen observations of life and relationships are common enough in art, but rarely are these two qualities combined as enjoyably as they are in Hitched." — Jeffrey Brown, author of Clumsy and Darth Vader and Son
“Tony Breed has managed to take the best elements of the classic family comic strips and re-imagine them as a modern, gay webcomic. The result is a smart, quirky, and hilarious look at both the absurdity and mundanity of a modern family; Finn and Charlie Are Hitched is not to be missed!” —Justin Hall, No Straight Lines and Glamazonia, the Uncanny Super-Tranny!
“Hitched is warm and wonderful in every way—from Finn and Charlie themselves, to the humor and the incandescent art.” —Gordon McAlpin, Multiplex
The background music in my video is "Mexico City", by Canasta, who kindly gave me permission to use the song. You can buy it on iTunes, among other places.
Risks and challenges
The comics are all already drawn and scanned. I need to do prepress on the comics, and I'm coloring all of the 2012 comics, but I don't see any reason that can't be completed in time. In addition, I'll need to create the cover artwork; again, this is doable in the time I've given myself.
Shipping out all of the books that are ordered will be a lot of work, but I've allotted a generous amount of time to get that done.
We're in good shape to complete this on time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
