Thank you for taking the time to look at this Kickstarter for the Wizards and Warzones Trading Card Game!
So the way the game works is each player has a deck of 40~60 cards, after shuffling you draw 6 cards from the deck, decide who goes first, etc. then each player starts with 30 Loyalty (its like your Life Points) and 10 resources (just as important as Loyalty). Each player will spend their resources to play creatures to attack their opponents with and defend their Base (their side of the field), and play powerful spells, weapons, and artifacts to power up their creatures! Be careful though, because you might trigger an opponents Event card! (It's like an instant or a trap card) and then you might get set back as a result! Plan carefully as you set up your Terrain cards (Their like lands and field cards) to bolster your creatures defenses (by giving them a safe place to hide) and be prepared when you play your Epics (similar to legendary artifacts) because though they may greatly aid your creatures, one slip up and it could be stolen from you, if that happens 3 times you lose the game! Oh and don't forget to pay attention to the placement of your creatures to (because it matters big time!) If your not careful you might leave your weakest creature on the Front Lines (where it can be attacked) when it should have stayed in your Base (where its more safe)
That's the basic gist of the game, but there's far more to it than just that. So far their are five different races in the game in the first edition set: Human, Elf, Lutrin, Shumba, and Tokage
Humans are crafty, they utilize an ability called Trainee, which lets you return them to play if they go down while in a special token condition known as Drafting (described in the instruction booklet above)
Elves are swarmy, they utilize an ability called Back Up, which lets you search your deck whenever you play one and put another Elf into your hand, so you always have a steady supply of troops to aid you in battle!
Lutrin are controlling, they usually don't fight due to an ability called Neutral, however they have abilities that let them put out powerful tokens, counter spells, and wall up to protect themselves!
Shumba are strong, they are your meat shields that make effective walls with their Steadfast abilities, which lets then gain armor whenever they are damaged and specialize in making big walls to turtle behind so you can gather your resources and more support!
Tokage are unified, they have abilities called Inspire and Empowering, which lets them synergize with each other to make them powerful as a single cohesive unit, a unit that if used properly can take down powerful threats your opponent might bring to the table!
So what does your money go to exactly? Well it's a simple breakdown, 10k of it goes straight to getting the artwork all fully rendered and colored proper, rather than the sketches currently commissioned. Another 2k goes to printing all backers cards and mailing them out to everyone. Another 2k goes to printing the product itself in excess to be able to sell to new players at conventions and such that might have missed out on the Kickstarter. another 2k goes to commission money to produce more artwork for the set so it gets even bigger than just starter deck cards, another 2k goes to paying other participants of this project for future and current endeavors, and the final 2k is there for Kickstarter fees.
Ever since I was a child, card games like Yugioh and Pokemon fascinated me, before long I got hooked on Magic the Gathering and loved the expansive worlds it created. But besides that I loved board games and table top strategy games like Chess, Checkers, and Dungeons and Dragons. My imagination has always been proactive in my everyday life that I began building universes of my own everywhere I went. It wasn't until I turned 21 that I got into Graphic Design college level courses and that's where my creativity fell off the grid for awhile, or at least took a backseat to a more analog form of creativity, where I not only had to design creatively visually, but I had to design creativity for interactive. Two years later when I was more familiar with programs and the technology of how Graphic Design works that my spark ignited once again! I began to analyze the world around me and then I looked back at the card games I played and thought, I could make a career out of that with my Graphic Design skills I learned! I worked tirelessly, formatting and designing symbols, backgrounds, layouts, logos, you name it, it was like I was hooked and couldn't stop! I was having so much fun that it nearly made me fail my finals... HOWEVER! My teachers saw my motivation and pushed me to keep developing it further until I was at a point where I could show it off as a raw product before it would be finalized. So I did my best to compile a layout that is effective and easy to understand, and I play tested hours on end with a small group of friends and showed my teachers progress every week with the designs. Before I knew it I had designed over a hundred different cards and thought I could really really make this my dream job. I want to bring a new form of trading card game to the market that everyone can enjoy, and I can promise you this game is that very one! And that's why I started this Kickstarter, I need your help to get it off the ground, it costs so much to pay artists for the hard work they do (and they DO work very hard), and print so many cards, organize them into decks and booster packs, and properly sell it at conventions and comic book and hobby shops. Please help me fulfill my dream, I'm more than ecstatic and qualified to do this job, and just seeing the smiles on peoples faces as they played my game, socialized and joked as we played made such a strong impact on me as I'm sure it will you.
Risks and challenges
Given the nature of the project and that only 2 different artists are working on the team alongside me, It may take longer than expected to have over a hundred different sketches turned to full color, so they may or may not be finished and shipped by the allotted time, as this is mostly guessing and making deadlines that can't always be met due to unforeseen circumstances. I will make sure and I promise to uphold all artists to their duties to complete their artwork in a timely manner, any changes or updates that could affect that will be posted to the official twitter page and I will be more than happy to address any concerns or questions patrons may have of me or the projects status. I want to make sure everyone is treated fairly and gets what they paid for, I abhor people abusing their customers and am 100% committed to satisfying your needs to the best of my ability.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
