BIG OL' SEXY UPDATE: $15,000+
WOW! You guys took us straight to the goal in less than 5 days! That's incredible. That means we'll definitely be getting the funding, and you'll definitely be getting the album. Where do we go from here? Up, of course! We like using this platform because when you pre-order the album, it's directly affecting the product before it gets made. Here are some FAQs:
Q: You hit $15K. Can I still donate?
A: Absolutely! The goal we set was the minimum we'd need to head into the studio and come out with some awesome recordings. The more we raise, the more freedom we have to create something special. Most of all, we want to get the album out to people, and we want people to enjoy it.
Q: Do you get all of the donations?
A: Great question! The money comes right to us. We have to pay standard associated fees to Kickstarter and Amazon, but beyond that, every penny goes straight into the album budget.
Q: What kind of stuff can you do with additional money?
A: SO MUCH! With additional money, we'll be able to hire wonderful studio musicians (strings, organs etc.), get the album mastered (by a *sweet* mastering engineer), do our very own custom art direction, make copies of the album, and on and on. And of course, the money also goes to getting everyone their rewards (t-shirts, copies of the album, pictures, guitars, etc.). Waste not!
Q: What's going to be on the album?
A: Pre-order and find out when it's here : ) ...but seriously. The album is going to consist of brand new tracks and re-imagined tracks from the EP (with new parts, instruments, and arrangements). Unlike the EP, which was put together in Jeremy's house as we were growing as a band, this debut will be put together in a concentrated studio effort. We'll be doing pre-production before tracking; we'll be utilizing different studios for different strengths and taking the advice and guidance of seasoned industry pros in our producer and engineers. Basically, we're doing it for the reals!
Every last one of you is the bomb(dot)com!

We need a favor. You see, somewhere along the line, people like yourselves gave us encouragement. "You've got something special," you said. "You owe it to everyone to run with this," one of you told us. "You totally don't suck," another chimed in. Well congratulations — you got into our heads. Now here we are, staring at an incredible opportunity to make an album that will make all of us proud AND turn some heads. And it's all your fault.
We were just two kids making music in a bedroom. Your overwhelming support has led us to great opportunities and shown us we have the chance to be much more than that.
With your help, we'll be in the studio in January to record our debut album. We'll be working with an amazing producer and a smattering of the best darn talent around, all with the goal of bringing you an album you'll be proud to say you supported. We forewent an alternative option for funding, knowing that an independently funded album will give us the freedom to really make the record we want you to hear.
So that's where we are — funding the record. The way Kickstarter works, we have to raise our goal of $15,000 to get any of your support. $14,999 won't cut it. The budget we set is the minimum we need to make sure you get the album in your hands (along with paying for Kickstarter fees and any other benefits you snag, such as t-shirts and signed guitars!). It's certainly not a maximum (every cent raised will go towards the record), but it's the goal we've got to hit by Dec. 16th. And we firmly believe, with your help, we can get there.
Please share this campaign with all of your friends and anybody you think would be interested in being a part of this album. For just $15, you'll get the download of the album as soon as it's available — for different donations, you get other really sweet stuff, like a physical copy, a t-shirt, handwritten lyrics, artifacts from the recording session — it's all there on the right, so check it out! And of course, even just a dollar helps. Anything and everything is appreciated. Let's make some big noise!
Jeremy and Jennica
To do big things, you have to make big noise. Up-and-coming Austin band Moonlight Social is doing just that. Since being founded in early 2011, the band played a SXSW showcase after being selected by 9-time GRAMMY-winning frontman Ray Benson and won a GRAMMY-sponsored showcase after being selected by the board of governors for the Texas Chapter of The Recording Academy. Most recently, the band was named winners of the 2011 Austin Chronicle Sound Wars after beating out nearly 100 other Austin bands.
Mixing a penchant for flowing melodies, poignant lyrics, and powerful vocals, Jeremy Burchard and Jennica Scott, the tandem behind Moonlight Social, combine their talents to offer a sound that is wholly accessible yet undeniably refreshing. Hailing from Austin, Texas, the duo met as peers in The University of Texas Longhorn Band — Scott as a member of the trumpet section, and Burchard as a member of the drumline.
What started as a spontaneous jam session and a few cover recordings in Burchard’s tiny apartment bedroom quickly developed into a full-time musical collaboration. Scott’s rich vocals and harmonious country sensibilities married with Burchard’s eclectic guitar style and expansive rock roots create the signature sound of Moonlight Social — that is, inventive yet familiar, spontaneous yet calculated, varied yet grounded.
Since being founded in early 2011, the band has played sets around central Texas, bringing along a talented collection of backing musicians. They released their debut self-produced EP in May 2011.
