About this project
UPDATE: A huge thanks to all my backers and the thousands of people who helped spread the word. Thanks to you we get to keep making these handy film making tools. We've got lots more coming. Stay tuned!
Hi! My name is Zeke Kamm. I’ve been a filmmaker for over 20 years. I’m designing gear for filmmakers that’s easy to use with professional features that are travel friendly and affordable. Our last Kickstarter (The Aviator Travel Jib) was a huge success. It’s now being used all over the world on feature films, commercials, TV shows, documentaries, and more.
Dolly moves are a staple in high end productions, but traditional dollies are heavy, bulky, expensive, and can take over an hour to set up.
The Rocket Travel Slider gives you super-smooth, professional dolly shots up to 10 feet long anywhere in the world, and it sets up in minutes! 2 foot slider? 4 foot? 6 foot? 10? No problem for The Rocket.
The Rocket Base Kit weighs just 3 ½ lbs. (supporting loads up to 45 lbs!) and compacts down into a deluxe padded case about the size of a shoe box. It easily supports high-end pro cameras like the Epic, Sony F55, HDSLR’s, Blackmagic Cinema Camera and more. Even a fully-rigged Aviator Travel Jib.
Grab and Go with The Rocket Travel Tracks. At less than 3lbs, this nearly 6-foot-long set of carbon fiber rails compacts down to just 24 inches. And it includes a high-end padded bag. Remote locations, or just across town, The Rocket is always there.
Thanks to custom wheels made from a proprietary blend of polymers, The Rocket also works great with EMT pipe available at most hardware stores. 10 feet costs just $6.49 at my local store. So if you need a 2-foot, 3-foot, or 5-foot slider, just buy one pipe for $6.49 and have the store cut it for you. You’re no longer tied to one size slider. Want a beautiful 10 foot slider shot? $13 gets a set of tracks and a shot you could only get with dollies costing thousands of dollars.
If you’re flying to a location just bring along the base kit. Once you land, stop at the local hardware store and for a couple of dollars you are good to go. No more lugging tons of gear and paying oversize baggage fees.
The Rocket works great all on its own. But add The Aviator Travel jib and get amazing, high-production dolly jib shots from gear that fits in a backpack and sets up in minutes!
The Rocket is the world’s first & only elevated dolly (camera slider) that is designed from the ground up to work with The Aviator Travel Jib.
Add some inexpensive open-source hardware and you’ve got the best value in time-lapse and motion-control sliders.
The Rocket Base Kit includes a deluxe padded bag, bar ends, bubble levels, rocket sled with monitor mounts & custom wheels, center support for long runs, and Landing Gear for ground shots, table spots, and more.

The Aviator Micro Hi-Hat
The Rocket Base Kit comes with everything you’ll need to mount a flat base fluid head or photo ball head to The Rocket. Add our brand new 75mm micro Hi-Hat to your pledge for just $125 and you can level any 75mm bowl (also called half ball) mount fluid head on your Rocket Travel Slider. It can also be mounted to most photo tripods. Or attach it to a board for the lowest of low angle shots with your 75mm fluid head.
What will we use the money for? We are ready to start production. Your pledge will help us pay for the many molds, materials, minimums, and other manufacturing costs involved in bringing The Rocket to market. We appreciate your help more than you can imagine!
When will the rewards ship? Thanks to the success of our last project, the factory has agreed to start manufacturing as soon as we hit our goal - even before we get them the funds. That means the sooner we hit our goal, the sooner they’ll start the molds and the sooner we can get the items shipped to you. We should be shipping by August.
What makes The Rocket so great? Sliders and dollies help you tell your story with beautiful camera moves.
Unlike dollies that are heavy, large, expensive, and a big hassle to set up, The Rocket is super portable, lightweight, compact, and affordable. And unlike sliders where the size you get is the size you are stuck with, you can transform your Rocket slider into any length up to 10 feet with just a trip to the hardware store. Or use the Travel Tracks and stuff a set of 6 foot tracks in your carry on bag!
Don't wait. Back this project now.
Thank you for your support.
Risks and challenges
We are a small company. I answer every customer service email personally. I care about my customers and about making high-quality, innovative products.
This is not our first Kickstarter rodeo. :) We learned a lot from our previous campaign and have put procedures in place to maximize performance and minimize obstacles. We’ve reserved manufacturing time at the factory. We have an experienced team in place to expedite assembly and an amazing fulfillment team to get orders shipped out fast.
Things outside of our control, like a shortage of raw materials, environmental factors, or changes in lead times, could cause delivery date delays, but thanks to the success of our last project, the factory has agreed to start manufacturing as soon as we hit our goal - even before we get them the funds. So don’t wait. Become a backer now. And let's get this rocket rolling!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Absolutely! The max load on The Rocket is rated at 45 lbs.
The Rocket works great on metal pipe with an outside diameter up to 30mm. That is the approximate outside diameter of 1" EMT pipe (they call it one inch, but the OD is just under 30mm which is 1.17 inches).
It will also work on metal pipe with a smaller outside diameter. It doesn't have to be exact because the retaining pin tightens down to accommodate different size pipe. Use of a smaller diameter pipe may reduce the maximum load. So I recommend using 1" EMT to get the maximum rated load (45lbs).
It's not shown in the photos, but the unit does come with safety stops to prevent the cart from tipping over while mounted to the tracks. They aren't really necessary if the cart is set up right, but they are included just in case.
