@martin agreed gameplay footage wouldcve helped within the first week not a final push.
I also feel the goal was way to high, that was a HUGE turn away for alot of backers, though I get they had reasons. But it def didnt help

    2. Martin Joly on June 20, 2017

I think one of the bigger factors working against the game was a lack of in-game footage when the campaign was launched. A gameplay video eventually came but I think it was too late to show the game's potential as most of the attention had gone by then. I know it's probably hard to do, but having a proof of concept really helps people get onboard at the outset. Either way, really hope this game sees the light of day one day.

    3. Chris Bastin on June 20, 2017

I backed the project because the dynamic rap system looked cool. Perhaps you could recycle the system and propose its usage to Sony for a new Parappa title?

Sad to see this game go. The fact that a game with such potential cannot be funded in any way depresses me. Will we ever see another story-driven rhythm game?

to be honest, this game had great potential, but one major reason was the art and characters are so ugly and unlikeable. on the other hand parappa and sunny funny and gang were cute and fun. rap rabbit just looks like a dirty disheveled beggar going against an even uglier giant frog.

    6. Shaun Dreclin on June 19, 2017

Never give up! There is clear demand for this game, even if it is a niche demand. Somebody out there will be willing to fund you. I expect to see this game in the future! Good luck ❤️❤️❤️

I am sorry to see this didn't pan out better! I hope you can find someone willing to invest after showing what you have put together. I hope to see this game come to light some day, I really love the ideas behind it.

I'm afraid I saw this coming. While I held out some hopes for a while, the initial momentum fizzled fairly quickly. It's a shame, sure, but I can tell this project means something to the team involved and I'm sure we'll be seeing Rap Rabbit poke its head outta the ground again one day.
Good luck with all your future endeavors, I'll be rootin' for ya!

yeah Project Rap rabbit team should Try again with more Preparations, no shame to do that. if they RESEARCH the Kickstarter Pattern and how they handle it LONG AND HARD enough, then this campaign would've been a success. sadly they JUMP THE GUN very too early with no PREPARATIONS along with them. non-indies Developers forget or didnt know that GAMEPLAY is the secret recipe for success on kickstarter. whether they want to do a second time or not is up to them but they better TIME IT RIGHT or else everything just falls apart.

I just want to let you (the creators) know that I am very sad that the campaign doesnt seem to be able to make. Would have loved to see your game released. I am a huge fan of all of your work. Best of luck in your future endeavors.
      Love from Sweden.

    17. Lollie on June 19, 2017

I really, *really* want to believe in Rap Rabbit. I love the art, I'm interested in the characters and setting, and the music on demonstrates that some great tracks could come out of this game. There's a lot of promise in this project, and I hope this Kickstarter campaign isn't the end of Rap Rabbit.

But, I believe this campaign was launched too soon. The concept gameplay should have been ready from the beginning, but even more importantly: It needed more time to be polished up, something that you could look at and say, "This is the level of quality that we want to achieve." It needed to sound and feel like something that could actually appear in the final game.

I believe there are other reasons as well, things that are outside of this project's control. There has been some "Kickstarter fatigue" recently — You might have seen comments about other games with high-profile campaigns, and the skepticism surrounding them. Some games produced with the help of Kickstarter have had more success than others.

Unfortunately (this one hurts to say), another reason may lay with the recent PS4 Remaster of PaRappa the Rapper, done by SIE Japan Studio. I remember the talk when the remaster was announced, there was so much excitement about the news! PaRappa was coming back! But when the remaster actually released, it had problems: The game's cutscenes remained blurry and low-resolution, and its gameplay was full of timing issues. It wasn't able to be the great game that people remembered so fondly. I understand that NanaOn-Sha wasn't responsible for PaRappa's remaster, and I do not blame him. But with the memory of the remaster still fresh in people's minds... You might be able to see why people could be hesitant.

These reasons and more are why more time and preparation is needed. Fans of PaRappa, Guitaroo Man, Elite Beat Agent and Vib-Ribbon, we're already with you! You don't have to work hard to convince us. The people that you *do* need to work hard for, are the people who are skeptical, and tired of being let down.

If you have to make a deal with Sony in order to give Rap Rabbit its best chance, do it. Just make sure that Rap Rabbit has the strength to prove itself on the very first day.

Best of luck, Rap Rabbit team.

      on June 19, 2017

If you guys relaunch have a longer video have the developers come out in the video and talk about the game (people Love that with games) If you have not even a minute of concept footage pad it out have the rapper talk about how cool the idea is, the video is the first thing people see and I can see a lot people turn off just at that because it doesn't engage causal viewer, I'd pledged but after I read about it not everyone gonna do that.

    22. Otoshigami No. 40723
      on June 17, 2017

i believe they should relaunch the 2nd time campaign during the PSX so that SONY would at least announce it for them as of way of VOUCHING/awareness since they are open to indie games MORE. i dont mind them to sacrifice the SWITCH/Xbox stretch GOAL in exchange for SONY marketing or #buildingthelist just to make this game a reality. besides SWITCH is sold over 3 million worldwide and thats not enough demand for this project so its a NO GO.

    23. Crimson-X on June 17, 2017

Wow this sucks. Almost over and not even half way there. Really would love to see this still happen.

    24. Justin "Vex" Brissette
      on June 17, 2017

I know there's no realistic way that you can make your goal. I think now the best thing is to work and have a playable demo and two or more trailers which you can use as way to create hype. Maybe try and get that all together for Playstation Experience in December.

    25. Gordon Widener on June 17, 2017

I know it's been clear for a while that it won't make it but no posts or updates since the 9th isn't a great look either. I hope something can still come of this at some point. :(

      Are there somethings wrong?
The funding level is too high that we won't be achieving within 2days…

Would you please review and maybe re-launch again?
It would be a nice game!

    27. Banni Ibrahim on June 17, 2017

They can't just re-launch, they need to take time to develop at least a bit of the game before re-launching. I will be honest, WE might have liked the gameplay example video..... but everyone I showed it to, as well as comments from everywhere on gaming sites that saw it that aren't already backers.... did not.

They believed it was embarrasing in every possible way. And a big issue of that is due to almost nothing being there. None of the 3D assets, none of the animation, none of the final voices, nothing.... they need a more developed prototype to show off before re-launching it.

I hope you guys don´t just give up and try again in the future, i am sure you can make a way better campaign than this one, try to show good gameplay and maybe a little demo.

Get gaming media or some youtuber attention may work to.

I know you can make rhythm-action games great again :D.

you lose this battle, but you can win this war n.n ♥.

    30. The Beardo
      on June 16, 2017

To state the obvious, devs need to put in a bit more work and come back in a while to relaunch. Not having a gameplay prototype killed the hype early on for a lot of people I am sure, but the more that can be shown right off the bat the better, I am sure there is enough interest out there to get funding but people are a lot more wary of kickstarter these days.

Anthony Sherman on June 15, 2017

The only time is doesn't make sense to pledge is when the game will clearly reach it's goal but you only want it on a platform that's a stretch goal which it might just not reach.

    32. Missing avatar

      Jen on June 15, 2017

The psychology of these things is weird. People hesitate to back projects that don't look like it will make it even though you don't lose anything if the goal isn't reached.

I would still love to play this game and hope the creators will try again. Maybe shrink the scope and push more features to stretch goals if possible? More options of lower-priced tiers with different merch? Just trying to come up with ideas to make this a success in the future..

    33. Josef Blom on June 15, 2017

Why pull your pledge? If they don't meet their funding goal, no money gets taken. Pulling your pledge just gets them further from that goal.

I've seen other people saying they don't intend to pledge because they don't see it reaching its goal, and I don't understand that either. Not pledging just keeps it from getting closer to that goal.

If you don't like the gameplay concept now that it's been demonstrated, I'd understand that, but just because it doesn't seem like it'll reach its funding goal? To me that seems more like a reason NOT to pull funding, or a reason why you SHOULD pledge.

    34. Zachary Reese on June 15, 2017

You'd think the Kickstarter runners would ramp up excitement towards the end, but after the gameplay reveal, it seems to have just sort of died. It seems like they've accepted it. Hopefully, the creators will give this another go. Maybe on IndieGogo where Indivisible found success.

    35. Jassen Payen on June 15, 2017

Sorry guys, I'm pulling my pledge for now. There is no chance of this happening at the current level. I do hope that you drum up some hype and please come back! All the best for the future.

I caught the stream (enjoyed the appreciation for my name) and had to back. The older rhythm games on PSOne really got me hooked and this only brought back memories. No matter what happens, I'm sure you have our support and we'll be vocal on keeping you persistent.

    40. Josef Blom on June 9, 2017

The concept gameplay footage was enough to get me to double my pledge. I really want to see this get made.

I'm curious about the summary screen for the opponents, though. Will it always show which responses are the most effective? Sure, you need to pick up the right keywords to be able to use those responses against them, but I think it'd be more fun to figure out which types of responses work best instead of just having that information given out. Maybe it could be there for easier difficulties but taken out for harder difficulties, or maybe there could be an option to toggle it on or off for those who want it?

Just saw the gameplay demonstration video. Very short, but I liked what I saw and heard. Before the stream, I wondered if I would be able to "connect" with this game, but I needn't have worried-- it has the same feel I remember from playing Gitaroo Man and Elite Beat Agents.
