"TAPE" is a suspenseful, high-stakes play that examines questions of motive, memory, truth & perception. "Some things can't be erased..."
Knife Edge Productions and 100% Productions present "Tape", by Stephen Belber.
Directed by Sam Helfrich (http://www.samhelfrich.com)
"Jon, an aspiring filmmaker on the verge of hitting it big, hooks up for the weekend with his best friend from high school, Vince, a volunteer fireman who makes his money selling dope. Jon's new film is being shown at a festival in Lansing, Michigan, and Vince has come to Oakland to see it. Over the course of the evening, Vince finally gets Jon to admit that ten years ago he date-raped Amy Randall, a girl whom they both dated in high school -- only then to reveal that he's taped the entire conversation. And not only that, he's invited Amy to have dinner with them that night. Beneath its suspenseful, high stakes surface, TAPE examines questions of motive, memory, truth and perception."
We are aiming to produce a 4 week run of this amazing play at a top of the line Off-Broadway theater in NYC. We have narrowed our interest down to the Soho Rep in downtown Manhattan. Soho Rep would be the perfect venue for our production of "Tape" and has seen it's share of stellar productions including Sarah Kane's "Blasted". It is a beautiful, state-of-art 73 seat black-box theater. It is considered to be one of the most dynamic, well-known, and well-equipped small spaces in New York.
In Sam Helfrich, we have a fantastic director who has a beautiful vision for this production along with a great production team.
We performed a reading of "Tape" and playwright Stephen Belber attended. We received tremendous positive feedback from Stephen and have his support in this production. To have the backing of the playwright in this fashion is a rarity and something we believe makes this production that much stronger.
We have a clear vision for what we want to do for this production. To realize this vision, we need to assure ourselves that we have the right people in place to fill out our already strong team. To do that, we need to raise funds. The money we raise will go to the following areas to make this production possible:
- THEATER RENTAL
- SET DESIGN
- REHEARSAL SPACE RENTAL
- SET DESIGNER
- COSTUME DESIGNER
- LIGHTING DESIGNER
- PUBLICIST (PUBLIC RELATIONS/MARKETING)
- STAGE MANAGER
- ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGER
- BOARD OPERATOR
- BOX OFFICE
- LOAD IN/LOAD OUT
Although we have set our fundraising goal here to $18,000, realistically we need roughly $30,000 to bring this production to life as we envision it. Kickstarter is an "all-or-nothing" scenario. In other words, if we do not raise $18,000 by the deadline, we do not receive even one penny...and you do not pay one penny. That being said, we need your help and your support to achieve the $18,000 threshold AND surpass it before the given deadline.
Thank you for visiting our page. Thank you for your time and consideration. And most of all, thank you for your graciousness and support!
