Tales of the Mischievous Harry Leviticus Bunking Children's Book
Hi there! My name is Lincoln Williams, and I want to share my story with you. I accidently started this project about a year ago, out of sheer frustration. My oldest son Zion, is a very smart boy by all accounts, but he hates reading. I tried everything I could to encourage him to read more and I just could not. This was all the more frustrating for me because I am an avid reader! One day I was at home, and it suddenly dawned on me – Maybe, I could encourage my son to care more about reading if he could relate to the material that he was reading and that is how this project was born:
“Tales of the Mischievous Harry Leviticus Bunking.”
When I embarked on this project with Zion, I could see the immediate impact. Not only was he showing more interest in reading, but he was also motivated in helping to develop the characters for each short story in the series. Well, at the outset, this project was just supposed to be three short stories, but now the project has evolved two-fold. First, I have succeeded in motivating my son into being a better reader and; Second, I have re-discovered my passion for writing children’s stories! Personally, I have taken this project as far as I can from a financial standpoint and with the feedback that I am getting, I have decided that it is time to move beyond keeping this as a hobby for my children, close friends and my immediate family circle. The "Tales of the Mischievous Harry Leviticus Bunking" is a series of fast-paced short stories about a boy named Harry. Harry is always in search of fun! However, in his quest for the ultimate fun experience, Harry may go a little overboard. To be fair, Harry is a flawed character, but his intentions are not malicious. Folks, some of his choices leave a lot to be desired, and Harry ends up paying the price for those poor choices. As a parent of two very, very, active boys, I use Harry as examples of “teachable” moments.
SO, Why Kickstarter?
One word – INDEPENDENCE! I believe that by obtaining funding by crowdfunding here on Kickstarter, I will be able to keep the Harry Bunking Series completely independent and 100% accountable to the people who matter most––our readers. I will be able to work independently without compromise to my creative process. A successful campaign on Kickstarter would give me the creative freedom with my project!
Below is a sample of one such story that is currently published as an e-book on Amazon.com:
Risks and challenges
RISKS AND CHALLENGES:
Well, it goes without saying that any challenge that one undertakes will come with some degree of risks. Therefore, this endeavor is no different in that regard. Based on my experience with trying to get my work published on www.Amazon.com, I anticipated a few set-backs, so I have made the necessary adjustments as it relates to the expected delivery dates of the next two children’s books in the "Tales of the Mischievous Harry Leviticus Bunking" series. I have taken the necessary precautions in negotiating and getting commitments in securing the quality and timely delivery of the illustrations for the upcoming books. I have reviewed some new illustrations, and I have approved of some illustrations so far, which I consider “age appropriate” for the project. Additionally, I have researched the necessary steps in acquiring and securing the services of the team needed, based on the various level of expertise that each illustrator brings to the project.
The next two books in the series that I will be publishing are already written and they are as follows:
(I) “Harry Bunking and the Magical Underpants.”
(II) “Harry Bunking and the Vibrating Cell-Phone.”
P.S – I have the PDF copies of the completed books- (WITHOUT ILLUSTRATIONS), and they are available for inspection if [or] when requested by potential donors.
At present, I am only awaiting the illustrations for the project which will see the production of two (2) eBook version and two (2) hard cover versions but I will need the funding to meet the financial requirements. That is where your donations come in. I do not envision any more setbacks because I have already built in a fifteen (10) business day turnaround time for all illustrations. However, in the event that we do encounter any unforeseen set-backs, I will notify all donors via e-mail as soon as the setbacks are known. I am also happy to report that I am in the advanced planning stages for the next phase of the project. This includes but is not limited to, legal, tax planning, designing, production planning and distribution.
WHERE THE MONEY WILL GO:
The contributions from the Kickstarter funding will be applied to the following costs associated with the project:

3. Hiring Professional Children Book Illustrators.
4. Applicable Taxes associated with Kickstarter funding.
5. Shipping Cost/Shipping fees.
6. Fulfilling Rewards to Donors.
7. Book Promotion and production.
I encourage all potential donors of this project to review my work on www.Amazon.com under - “Tales of the Mischievous Harry Leviticus Bunking” book series. In closing, I would like to thank anyone who took the time to read my proposal. I extend the gratitude of my entire family to those who have made a contribution to this project as I am aware that there are thousands of worthy projects out there that are in need of funding. I must say, I am truly humbled. To those who are unable to donate at this time or have chosen to back another project, I want you to accept my already published short stories as a gift and pass the word on. Please note that the shipping of all rewards to donors will start approximately fourteen (14) days after the Kickstarter campaign closes. Just a reminder to all, if the campaign is not fully funded, your contributions will be returned to you.
