A classic game based on the the 1970's movie Kelly's Heroes is making a comeback for the 40th anniversary of the first edition of the Kelly´s game!
A new terrain model is being built, new miniatures are being produced, and everything in never before seen scales.
The venerable old game that’s been played since 1978 is now being resurrected with a brand-new terrain model in 1:200 scale, and for that we need your help. Kelly needs you! As we gather the funds necessary to build this ambitious and beautiful new model, we’re releasing a unique series of miniatures so you can play your own Kelly’s game without the need for a 10 m2 gaming table. To make sure more players get a chance to experience the thrilling adventure of a daring heist stealing $16,000,000 worth of gold (in 1944 dollar value) right under the noses of 3 heavy Tiger tanks from the 101 SS Heavy Tank Battalion, we are also releasing a few of the most iconic buildings as 28 mm scale resin models.
Join us in the most audacious operation of the war in a game played by over 1,000 players since 1978 and try your luck being the first to the gold! A word of caution though; since the first edition in 1978, only 2 games have ever ended with Kelly, Big Joe, Oddball, Crapgame, and the rest of the heroes replicating the success of the movie. Will you be the one to make it happen next? Help us bring this classic game back to life and get a unique addition to your own collection at a great price by backing Kelly’s the Resurrection right now!
These models and buildings wont be available anywhere else until the movies 50th anniversary 2020.
December 2nd is the 48th anniversary of the movie release here in Sweden and also this year marks the 40th anniversary of the first Kelly´s game and we want to celebrate this in style.
Pictures of the buildings and potential new miniatures will be added as updates during the project.
We are aware that the stretchgoals doesn't give the backers a lot in the form of free stuff but considering this kickstarter is created to give us the funds to make a new diorama the funds we make needs to go towards that.
60k SEK Funded!
80k SEK The café building will be available as an add-on for 300 SEK and we will start to digitize all the photos from the 1986 expedition to the village were the movie was shot in former Yugoslavia (This will be a huge help when it comes to fix the old board and even more valuable if we get the funds to build a new board).
100k SEK An outside bistro with chairs, tables and a gramophone player, the café owner, René, the waitress Yvette and the owners wife Edith will all be available as an add-on for 300 SEK.
120k SEK The renovation of the old board will start. We will make 3d models of some of the buildings, a new base plate will be created and other improvements will be done. We will upgrade the café to have a removable roof and interior as an add-on. This will cost 500 SEK instead.
160K SEK We will build a new board from scratch in 1/200 scale with all new houses and buildings. The about 400 unique buildings will start to 3D print. Kelly and Cowboy from the end scene will be available as an add-on for 150 SEK.
And more to come...
Remember that the shipping estimates are only for the miniatures since the buildings aren't finished yet.
Also the USD, GBP and EUR prices are estimates on that days exchange rates.
When we have unlocked a few buildings we have a deal with Grimlights to create a version that will work with the buildings so you can have lighting in them. You can check out their products here https://www.grimlight.se/. The version we have planned will come assembled with a housing custom made for our 1/56 buildings, present and future ones. This add-on will cost 300 SEK.
Since the question has come up and Kickstarter doesn't have a simple solution here comes the answers to which pledge ships where.
Scene 1: Norway and EU
Rest of the world:....well....
UK only: yeah....
We all have to go: everywhere
So many positive waves: US only pledge, the bell tower will be available as an add-on for everyone else.
Republican deal: All over the world
Switzerland is only miles away: EU, UK and US only
Risks and challenges
To create a new diorama of Clermont is a huge undertaking and we will without a doubt hit some roadblocks along the way. The old diorama took years to build and we want ours up and running for 2020. The technology has moved on since 1978 and with 3D sculpting and printing it will go a lot faster. We have a good support group of people that also wants this done so even if we take in potential illness this should be doable.
When it comes to the add-ons. The first 3 miniatures are done and the church tower has been test-printed. As we move on with the project we will have buildings and miniatures done when we hit our goals, well, maybe even a little bit sooner.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
