What's this all about
This project started with an effort to combine a poem of Daniel's with Naomi's doodles, in an effort to create a playful approach to considering Death Inevitable. Instead of penning a book to support a child already experiencing loss, we hoped to preempt that, by conceiving something that would position death as a way of framing a meaningful life.
The book was created to broach death's poignant temperance of light-hearted youth in a positive, non-macabre way. If there's a moral to the story, it's that the best way to process the sadness of knowing our loved ones may not always be with us, is to share as much joy and love with them while they are.
Here's how the book starts:
The book will be a 9x9 image-wrapped, hardcover, with library binding. For any paper-nerds out there, we're looking at 105lb text quality matte paper for the internal pages.
No good deed will go unrewarded. The bounties promised for each donation are listed to the right.
If funded, the printing and shipping of the book is expected to take 8-10 weeks. For pledge rewards that don't include a copy of the book, that wait time will be halved.
Risks and challenges
Aside from the risk of this project not getting funded and children everywhere unwittingly living on the precipice of mortality, this is a low-risk project. The drawings are done, the page spreads are sorted - we're ready to print.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
