We have developed a new range of Faun Warriors, as the first unit to be released from the Confederations of Athena range for Raiders of Arcana. Like all the units we have developed for Raiders of Arcana, the Faun Warriors feature both male and female figures. In addition to the Raiders format of 6 figure units, we have also added a Standard Bearer and Musician figure, to enable the figures to be used as a regiment in other fantasy wargames.
All the figures will be cast in pewter and are mostly multi-part figures, allowing for some freedom of posing the arm position.
We are offering pledge levels based on buying either a single figure, a Raiders unit of 6 figures (with or without standard) and a regiment of 10 figures with command. We are also offering the Raiders units & Regiments painted to a gaming standard. If you want to pledge for multiple units or options, please just choose the highest appropriate pledge level, and add the value of any extra rewards you want - no extra shipping is required.
If you would like to supplement your rewards with figures from our existingRaiders of Arcana range, to take advantage of the reduced shipping, please just increase your pledge by the price of the figures you want - contact us if you have any further questions.
We have a number of other units in the pipeline for Raiders of Arcana, which will be released as extra options if we hit further funding goals. The first figure available is a Human Oracle - which will unlock at £800 raised.
Domain of the Fauns
The Fauns as a race have adapted to the most difficult of terrains, theirs are islands of rocky crags and cliffs covered with dense foliage, this landscape provides excellent shelter and food for those creatures that have been able to master it.
The islands that are now the domains of the Fauns, were a great mountain range but now only the upper summits remain above the ocean and it is the nimble hooves and unbelievable balance of the Fauns that have allowed the tribes to colonise this difficult terrain. Exploiting difficult terrain, the fauns excel at ambushes either through dense foliage or from seemly inaccessible cliff faces and rocky outcrops. Their speed and ability to hit hard and retire quickly make them a sort after addition to any warband.
Faun society is extremely competitive; females as well as males will butt heads to establish their place within the warband with the most impressive specimens of a faun quickly rising to the top.
Faun warriors both male and female are adapted at ambushes either leading an opponent into danger or striking from cover, however they can be fragile and they don’t like a prolonged combat once pinned by two units they could quickly crumble.
The short lance is a favoured weapon of the fauns and they wield it with great precision when charging but it also makes for an effective defence against a charging unit when combined into a shield wall. Fauns are lovers of sweet music for it soothes their busy minds, allowing them to concentrate on the battle. Fauns units often have musician, usually females and they carry both horns and piped flutes , the horns are used for rallying but the pipes are played throughout. Piped music is extremely difficult to pinpoint as the soft music bounces around rocky crags or drifts through wooden glens, disorientating an enemy who never knows from which way the fauns will attack, which of course is just what the mischievous fauns want!
Risks and challenges
Battlezone Miniatures has handled all our figure production in house for a number of years, so we have a good understanding of how long it will take us to put the figures into production and the costs involved. All 8 of the Faun Warriors have already been put into master moulds, so the risk of damage to any masters is minimal - we only need to create a set of production moulds and cast the production run of figures.
In the unlikely event that something goes wrong we will ensure we communicate any specific delays to backers affected and offer the choice of changing the chosen units if the delay in unacceptable.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
