About this project

(Notice: The Above video is a Proof of Concept. Some, None, or All of the assets shown may make it into the final project, it merely exists to give you an idea of what i plan to do, I also Apologize for the poor framerate, my computer doesn't like to run fraps and the game at the same time (thus the low audio quality))

Imagine:

Imagine you wake up one night, warm in your bed, but the once bustling world surrounding you is now empty, Now Imagine shadowy figures are stalking you and you are powerless to stop that. That is the general premise of The Verge A New Horror Point and Click Adventure Game from Cubed Games.

Features:

  • Real time 3d Graphics.
  • Dynamic Shadows.
  • Professional Voice acting.
  • A Gripping episodic story.
  • Startling Ambiance.
  • Completely DRM Free.

The Verge is still heavily in development as you can see from the video above. I plan on an Episodic Release to ensure i can get the game to you as quickly as possible. I have alot planned for it but in order to implement these features i need your help!

Why The Kickstarter?

Game engines dont come cheap, and the free ones can only due so much, your money will be used to purchase pro licensing enabling effects like:

  • Dynamic Shadows
  • Global Illumination (GI)
  • Reflective Surfaces & Mirrors
  • Advanced Particle Effects & shaders
The Money will also be used to pay my voice actor for his work, and to Purchase additional assets such as plugins, or shaders.

That's Not to say Without the funding I wont finish the project, It will just look alot worse (have you ever played a horror game without real-time shadows?) I can do it, but there will definitely be some limitations.

What is the current progress of the game?

Currently i have the base systems in place, and im writing the puzzles, gathering art, sound effects, creating the environment. However there are certain hiccups (such as if funding is successful i will be using real time lighting which would mean re-doing all the in game lights) so i have to proceed with caution until i see how this goes, once it gets far enough along i'll release a short demo showcasing its gameplay.

Release Date?

You can Expect The Verge For Mac & PC, sometime in 2013
