** 2nd STRETCHED GOAL **
We have set a STRETCHED GOAL of € 10,000, since we would like to to show this movie to as many people as possible at film festivals worldwide. Please help us to pay the entry fees.
Entering film festivals will give us the stage to show Bulb to those people who love cinema as much as we do. These same people will give us valuable feedback for Radicle Animation to improve its quality on future projects.
** STRETCHED GOAL ** - Reached!
We have set a STRETCHED GOAL of € 7100, since we would like to add 10 seconds to the short film, that we had to cut out to stay within our budget.
So help us to stretch our film by making sure we reach our stretched goal!!
Bulb tells the story of Looee, loyal assistant of Doctor Ed, who together work on a revolutionary time machine! Well, that's what they think... On the day Looee has to test the machine and be sent through space and time, an unfortunate chain of events is triggered by a somehow magic little object.
Bulb is a 3D animated movie. We have chosen to take a funny approach to the relationship of our 2 characters. Therefore, we use efficient posing and fast actions. The 3D characters move within a 3D environment that is then overlaid with 2D single-frame drawings.
We use cinema in an original way in our film, as a thank you for what it has brought to our team and to the world.
CONCEPT WORK - SET DESIGN
Dedicated to his job, Looee spends his day helping in the laboratory. In his free time he constructs his own little gadgets to pursue his love for movies.
Totally obsessed with travelling through time, Dr. Ed is a scientist, who would do anything to achieve his dream.
The project was initiated by Niels, Anne-Marie, Alex and Colas.
Niels De Vries, Director,
Anne-Marie Schmitz (Nana), Producer
Alexandre Belbari (Alex), Art Director, Animator
Colas Grasset, Storyboarder, Illustrator
Soon after starting talented people began to contact us to work on this project!
Gael Carpentier, Executive Producer
Nicolas Martigne (Nico), Music Composer, Foley Artist, Sound Designer
Olivier Fourmanoir, Modeller, Compositor
Samy Fecih, Animation Director, Layout & Storyboard (currently working for Dreamworks and teaching at Les Gobelins - check out his classes in the rewards!)
And a week ago Aziz Kocanaogullari offered to help us! Thank you Aziz!
Our goal is to raise a minimum of 5400E. The money will be used for the following:
- Increase the overall visual quality of the final composition
- Offset the production of Bulb
- Rent a sound studio to create our final Dolby Digital sound mix
- Pay entry fees for festivals (We are aiming to enter the Hong Kong Film Festival, Annecy International Festival in France and hopefully many more!)
- Manufacture nice Rewards for your support
Kickstarter is also a great medium for us to spread the word and share our film with you. We have big expectations of Bulb and are making this for you to enjoy. Hopefully we can also build a studio that can sustain itself and move onto continuous creations.
Risks and challenges
This is the first project we are creating all together.
Since the project started, in June 2014, we had to face rendering problems that took more time than expected, rescheduling the project and still keeping the deadline we had fixed. We have learned from planning the teaser, and we are now in full throttle to finish the full short in December 2014.
This is a very low budget production.
It is not easy to find people to work for free.. or even on very low pay. But some, and often the greatest, are passionate and interested in way more than the budget. We are creating this animation out of passion and have seen that more and more people are interested in working with us.
And here comes the kickstarter.
We intended to finish this project by ourselves, but in fact we need some help. Kickstarter is the challenge right now, since not all kickstarters succeed and we know that. But we also know that creative people will understand what we want to achieve.
Thank you for taking the time to read through our project and for supporting us.
Please don't forget to share our project on your social media channels!
If you have questions, don't hesitate, they will be answered!
