About this project
Welcome to the Off Switch Magazine Kickstarter campaign! We're so happy you're here!
We are raising money to print the spring 2013 volume of Off Switch Magazine via a traditional printer (as opposed to the online printing we've used for our first four volumes). This will enable us to print a larger quantity of magazines at a smaller per copy price. But the overall cost of a traditional printer is much higher than we're able to afford on our own...so that's where you come in!
The success of our Kickstarter campaign is very much linked to the success of our magazine. If we are able to raise the money needed to print our spring volume, we will be able to give Off Switch the opportunity to grow into a sustainable business. We will be able to offer subscriptions, wholesale, and as a result reach a wider audience. Take a look at the rewards to the right and see if one fits your budget and interests. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us through Kickstarter or firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks so much for your support!
The theme of our spring 2013 volume is "Come Celebrate." Submissions are in and final tweaks are being made to get this volume ready to print. We have a few big printers in mind and have chatted with them about quantities, paper, and print costs. We are also lining up potential shops and boutiques across the United States who would be interested in stocking Off Switch should we raise the $9,000 needed to print our spring volume.
Off Switch is meant to be a celebratioin of life and creativity. As a brand we strive to create a realistic and honest relationship with readers. We want the best for you and your life, always. To learn more about our founder and editor, check out Off Switch Blog.
Inside the pages of Off Switch Magazine you will find photography, essays, interviews, and illustrations. Think of us as a coffee table book that keeps on coming — fours times a year, right to your door. Each volume focuses on a new theme, with content geared toward that concept.
So far we have published 4 volumes of Off Switch Magazine (through magcloud.com), each an average of 80 pages. We are a young publication, but we are dedicated to being an example of the message we share: living life fully without an off switch. Check out our past volumes to get a feel for our aesthetic and quality. Trust us, we're kicking things up a notch from here on out — Off Switch is only going to get better!
Off Switch Magazine would not be possible without the amazing people who contribute their words and artistic talents to each volume! Many contributors are part of an online community of creatives who love to collaborate and contribute to each other's projects. We have been fortunate to become friends with folks from around the world who believe in our mission as much as we do. To see a full list of contributor's, visit our website!
Risks and challenges
We've truly grown over the past year and a half and are excited to expand Off Switch Magazine in 2013. While we still have a ton to learn about the process of creating, publishing, and distributing a quarterly magazine, we feel confident in our ability to make it happen. Trial and error are inevitable and so are mistakes, but by being honest and forthright with our backers we intend to keep lines of communication open and things running smoothly.
If for unforeseen reasons we raise the necessary money but are unable to print our spring 2013 as planned, we will notify all backers and readers right away. In this situation we would hold on to the money and use it to print the summer volume.
