BRIEF GAMEPLAY OVERVIEW: Each player represents a country. You travel to 4 random planetary systems in the Universe and collect discoveries that reward fame. The player with the most fame when you return to Earth wins. The game is played in 5 stages:
1. PREPARATION - you spend asset tokens to buy Crew and Equipment for the journey.
2. PLANETARY SYSTEM GENERATION - you use the Zetta PSG’s dice and cards to generate a random planetary system in the Universe.
3. EXPLORATION - your Crew Members travel within the planetary system between planets and try to make Discoveries. These are Life, Substances and Exo-products. The discoveries are your main source of Fame.
4. WARP - During the warp stage you interact with the other players’ crew members in order to gain advantages.
You start by playing the Preparation stage once, and then play Stage 2-4 repeatedly 4 times, representing 4 warp jumps.

Expedition Zetta has many clever intertwined mechanics and offers a network of possible strategies. It includes many well crafted components that resonate with both the retro-futuristic theme of warp travel in 1962 and the gameplay possibilities. It offers interesting multi player interactions as well as ambitious solo play variants. Expedition Zetta is based on real scientific facts matched only by a few other space games, and a back story that brings consistency and inner logic to the experience.
Expedition Zetta is a game for 1-5 players. It takes 2-3 hours to play (1-2 hours using the quick-play rules) and is suitable for ages 10 and above.

UNDEAD VIKING REVIEW.
"If you want a really really cool space exploration game with some euro mechanisms thrown in then I strongly suggest you check this one out. [...] It really walks that fine line between competitive, cooperative and treachery. I've played many games that try to do that, but doesn't pull it off, but this one does...these three themes reverberate well throughout the whole game. [...] Each time you play Expedition Zetta, you will create a brand new, radically different solar system...a new setting that you have to make the best of....The game could have been just that, and I would have absolute loved it but when you add in the two bookends, the prep and warp phase, I just find myself really really enjoying playing the game." - Undead Viking
VIDEO REVIEW IN SWEDISH BY CONRADARGO
- ConraDargo
Translation to English:"Expedition Zetta is an ambitious space explorer game where the players travel between four diffrent planetary systems, searching for life, excavating substances and making new fantastic exo products in their hunt for fame back on Earth. Every planetary system will be totally unique and offer various possibilities which leads to a different experience each time you sit down to play the game." - ConraDargo
Amelia Laughlan from Another Dungeon writes:
"Expedition Zetta is likely the most ambitiously designed boardgame I have ever experienced. Put simply, it is a strategy game which sees players take command of warp-capable spaceships in order to explore the galaxy and bring the most fame to the country they represent. ."

WORDS FROM THE DESIGNER, JON MANKER
DESIGN VISION About three years ago, I heard that scientists now believe there are 6x10²³ stars in the Universe. A number impossible to grasp. But then it struck my game designer mind that there is a way to grasp it. With a bunch of dice. The idea stuck in my mind an quite soon I started to sketch on what over time became EXPEDITION ZETTA. When randomizing any planetary system in the Universe you may get very different results. As it would be with a warp test flight and life search in distant galaxies. A main goal of the game design have been to create a network of possibilities for the players to adapt to the various situations presented to them.
INTRODUCING EXPEDITION ZETTA TO NEW PLAYERS The first time you play EXPEDITION ZETTA you may be overwhelmed by the plethora of choices and possibilities. The game plays in different stages which is helpful when you are familiar with them, but may add to the confusion the first time you play it. In playtests I have observed how players tend to get over the first threshold of the game after two warps.
ABOUT THE STRATEGY IN EXPEDITION ZETTA One thing that I am particularly proud of in EXPEDITION ZETTA is how the ever shifting environments you encounter has been handled by a web of potential strategies. After the first threshold, it helps beginners to always find something to do during their turns. After many games it helps the experienced player to continue to find new possibilities or tweak their strategies. I still find new strategies myself, to be honest. One important thing is to use the elements of randomness to your advantage.
I sincerely hope, and believe, that all of you deciding to get a copy of EXPEDITION ZETTA will have many, many hours of great enjoyable gameplay ahead of you, and many epic moments that will trigger your imagination about our unfathomable Universe.
