The idea behind Strung came from a desire to look at flat pack furniture and inject a bit of fun and craft into the process.
As well as being easy and hassle free to assemble we wanted to allow the user to influence and customise the way it looks and be able to change it when they want. This is easy to do with our finished product. You can mix and match the leg parts to make stools with multiple colours or keep them one solid colour. The stools arrive with one of our selections of string but that is no restriction, you can use anything else that springs to mind whether that be laces, hemp string or metal cable. It's up to you!
1. 2. 3...
Building the stool couldn't be easier. With just 4 parts, you'll be ready to go in minutes. And the best bit is once you've built it you can sit down and have a rest.
If we get funded we will start by producing a final manufacturing prototype. This will enable us to assess the quality and test the product rigorously before proceeding with full manufacture.
Following testing we will order an initial run of product which covers all of our kickstarter purchases and get our stools to you as soon as possible.
You can string up the stool however you like, and there is endless ways to do it, that's whats so great about it. Here's a few patterns we've tried out which look great and are comfy to sit on.
Risks and challenges
As with any manufactured part there are always risks associated with moving from a prototype to a final manufactured part. We have tried to minimise these risks by using common techniques that are easily scalable and can be carried out locally so we can closely oversee the process.
This local production means that we can react quickly to any problems that do arise. This combined with the time we have allowed in our schedule for changes to prototypes should mean that we can deliver on time. Should the delivery date get pushed back at all due to unforseen circumstances we will keep all our backers informed and do our utmost to keep this to a minimum.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
