John Trehane, Darren Stevenson and I started building this engine as a means to fix the problems and design flaws within John’s midget race engine. We began by looking at what the other aftermarket manufacturers of these types of engines were doing. Deciding to take a clean sheet of paper (or in this case Solidworks CAD software) we put in only those things that would allow us to build horse power. To facilitate reaching our goal of 2000 horse power we designed a crank with five main bearings, cross bolted main caps and a one piece billet spread bore block machined from 6061 T651 aluminum
Drawing the engine and the components in Cad software has allowed us to check for things like fit , clearance and/or interference within the complete assembly, prior to any parts being machined The only parts on this engine that have been “store bought” to date are con rods, pistons ,rings, bearings , valves ,springs and ‘retainers, as well as oil and fuel pumps. Everything else was machined in house with either a 4 axis CNC machining center or 3 axis CNC lathe
Currently, we are supplying custom machined crankshafts to some of the fastest full bodied VW race cars in the world. For this reason we know what is needed to get the job done. We have the skills, machines and people in place to meet the production needs of an engine of this caliber
Current position of the project
The engine is about 95 % complete. Only the exhaust rockers are needing to be machined before final fitting and assembly can begin .There are still a few minor parts needing to be ordered before it can be fitted to the dyno beach and have the oil, fuel and exhaust systems finished .
Why I need a kickstart ?
I need to raise funds to complete the engine and get it to market. There has been phenomenal interest from the drag racing fraternity, but only as a completed engine
