Who We Are & What We Do
First of all, the J is for Jan, and P is for Priscilla. And that makes us JP DasBrew.
We’re brewers, and we make a damn good brew too. Almost every day when we aren’t doing our day jobs, we’re working the hops and grains in small batches, feverishly pumping out delicious beers such as our Eye Crosser and Triple Blitz IPAs, Buxom Blonde Ale, Knotty Red Ale, and Monkey Fist Hefeweizen (which won the Kidango’s Tasters Choice award in 2011 and 2012).
Well, ok, we also spend our free time cleaning out our kegs ourselves too. It’s truly a labor of love!
We’re definitely not resting on our laurels, and we are always dreaming up new ideas for beers, right here at our little brewery.
Where we are going
We love to brew. It isn’t our day job yet, but we’d love to make it so, and we’re well on our way. We already supply many Bay Area restaurants, including Mission Pizza, the Mojo Lounge, Harry’s Hofbrau, Bosco’s Bones and Brew, and The Vine just to name a few.
We're getting some great word of mouth and lots of good feedback from our customers and their customers, and we really want to be able to keep up with demand.
What We'll Do With The Money:
Unfortunately, we don’t have much buffer at all in terms of the kegs we have, and we cut it fine every week making the deliveries with very little back up supply. It quite literally is flying off of the shelf, but just a bit too fast. And kegs are a big investment that don't pay themselves off as fast as they should.
On the bright side, our customers know our stuff is always fresh, but being able to have a larger margin for error would be a blessing, and right now being able to deliver on a big advance order is almost an impossibility, at least without making our regular orders suffer.
The payback from delivering a keg takes quite a while to cover its cost, but we definitely need more, and soon!
That’s why we’re doing this Kickstarter, so we can get enough money to make a bulk order of kegs. Once we get that, we'll have a great deal more buffer to work with, get our beer out to a lot more restaurants, and have a lot less stress from having to go out and grab our empties just to fill them up again .
And we’d like your help to do this with us.
And we promise that the JP DasBrew beer will keep its high standards of flavor and authenticity.
Community sourced funding is a great platform for us to establish relationships with all of you and keep a conversation going. We want to know what you think, and we want to keep you updated on our progress as we grow. We really can’t do this without you. So please join us!
We have some great rewards and unique JP DasBrew rewards that we are giving to backers.
Rewards, or "Swag" as they call it these days
There are many ways we want to show you our appreciation and welcome you to our family. We have JP DasBrew shirts, stickers, and bottle openers.
We have some official JP DasBrew drinkware including not only pint and pilsner glasses, and a beautiful selection of personalized growlers too.
We are also in the process of redesigning our labels, and will be printing them up posters of them as well, which will be a truly unique piece of art. For an example take a look at our logo for our promotional seasonal brew, Red Sled Holiday Ale.
Artistic Keg Backers
On the notion of art, what we’re most excited is to have you come on as a part of our family, and actually joining us on our beer runs as part of our delivery team! In a very artsy way. We will proudly place your brand our kegs, bringing joy and happiness whenever you arrive with our beer! We will however, require they be reasonable. No hurtful or overly offensive language, etc. That's not to say we won't have a sense of humor however, so if you have some questionable ideas you want to run by us, feel free to zap us a message.
So here's how it works:
Send us a design about the size of a bumper sticker and we'll slap print it out and slap it on our kegs, either as part of a team of backers, or go full monty and monopolize, I mean, sponsor an entire keg on your own! Get all the credit!
However you want to join our keg team, we'll be glad to have you.
We will also regularly update you through the main social networks as to where each keg is, be it en route or arriving at one of our partnering restaurants, ready to deliver joy and cheer to all who drink it.
Don’t have a company logo? Well we just might have you covered! We are also extremely pleased to announce that we have some extremely talented artists collaborating with us to help you! These rewards are limited though, as our artists have pretty full schedules!
Susan “Sooz” Knowles is a very experienced artist, perhaps best known for her work on the webcomic Reliquary, and some of her other art can be seen on her tumblr. Or just check out the following images.
He also designed the Red Sled Holiday Ale label! Check out his website for more examples of his work or take a gander right below:
These two talented artists will be helping with specific backers who want their assistance and will work with them to design a logo just for them!
We'd love to hear from you, so if you have any questions, feel free to send them our way.
So, please join us in making art; the art of the small brewer, the art of on a keg, and the art of loving what you do!
Risks and challenges
Not everything goes according to plan, as much as we wish for it to be so.
International shipping tends to be a bit of an issue for many Kickstarters so we've tried to add the appropriate costs to each reward level to make sure we are covered.
And life does happen, so in the case of our collaborating artists, if something comes up for them, the design of your logos/stickers may take some extra time, but we have tried to factor that in to our expected ship dates.
And in the case that our growler rewards become far more popular than we're expecting, it will take us quite a bit of time to hand paint them all! But we'll get them to you, never fear.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
