You can get our adapters or some might call them "virtual reality headset glasses" along with prescription lenses and more on our website.
Virtual reality is finally here!
It’s a brave new world, but who wants to look into it through a blurry window?
Comfort is important to being able to truly enjoy virtual reality experiences. Jay and the team of VR Cover have been working on making VR more comfortable since 2014, selling their virtual reality hygiene solution to thousands of VR enthusiasts, companies and developers.
We have teamed up with Peter (Pit) Marx who brings his lifetime of optical industry experience with Gauss Eyewear to this project and together we have created VR Lens Lab to bring your prescription lenses into your VR headset.
What Problem Does VR Lens Lab Solve?
Right now, if users don’t wear contact lenses with their VR headsets, they are expected to somehow squeeze their glasses inside the unit.
This can become uncomfortable when your temples come under sustained pressure from headset straps or when the nose pads of your glasses are pressed heavily against your face.
In some cases the lens of the VR headset can rub against your glasses scratching both lenses. That is a big problem.
With VR Lens Lab, we have created easy-to-use adapters for prescription lenses and lenses with special coatings that you can simply leave within the headset.
It is virtual reality eyewear just not for you but your VR headset such as the Oculus Rift, Gear VR or HTC Vive.
With our adapters, you can finally enjoy a full field of vision within your VR headset and protect your headset’s lenses from dust and scratches while protecting your eyes from harmful blue light for example.
You no longer have to wear glasses or contact lenses to enjoy virtual reality experiences with razor-sharp, super-crisp graphics.
We can not offer prescription lenses here on Kickstarter but after our campaign is over you can order them directly from us via http://vr-lens-lab.com or your local optician.
We can provide any prescription from +10 dpt to -10 dpt, and correct for things like astigmatism to give you whatever you need.
Standard Lens Protector with VRMC Coated Lenses
Our VRMC coating makes all our lenses scratch-resistant, super hydrophobic and anti-static which makes them really easy to clean.
Depending on the coating, different chemical compounds are vaporized and applied to the lenses.
They form very thin layers, only a few microns thick. Most of our coatings have eight different layers or more. The features of each coating are a result of the thickness and compounds used for each one.
You can also get prescription lenses with our coatings from VR Lens Lab.
Blueguard VR Lens Protector
This adapter comes with lenses that use Gauss Eyewear’s Blueguard protection for VR which adds an anti-reflective coating on both sides of the lenses that reduces the harmful blue light that can sear into your eyes.
Watch the video for more details about Blueguard
The Blueguard VR coated lenses have also all the beneficial properties of the VRMC coating.
Six months ago, we used Kickstarter to launch glasses with this new coating technology and it quickly became one of the most successful eyewear campaigns in Kickstarter’s history.
Now, we are asking for your help. We need a minimum amount to offer the adapters and lenses at this great price point.
We have developed the prototypes with Pit's 3D printer, and have already set everything up for production with high-quality moulds. Please join us on our journey to make virtual reality even more comfortable and enjoyable for everyone.
Risks and challenges
We are not new to this. We have been testing and experimenting the last 6 months to get this going and have lined up everything we need.
Just like with our previous Kickstarter we are ready to ship very soon after we hit the campaign goal and our suppliers are waiting to get started.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
