Frequently Asked Questions
The biggest issues left that we've been working hard to solve is shipping. Worldwide shipping is a beast. Some countries have "friendly" option that allow CGL to prepay VAT and other costs, and only have the backer pay for in-country postage costs. Even then, these are big boxes with lots of items in it. The postage adds up. please see the latest updates on Shipping and Assistance to catch up and our efforts!
at 8pm PST the kickstarter will end and our final goal will be reached for not. either way, the next to-do item is to get the Pledge Manager open. That will take some time as we work with Quartermaster and CrowdOx to get al the options organized, and all the options readied for you. Once the PM opens, you will have likely 60-90 days to go in and customize your pledge. You can add more items, change your mind on others, and decide if you want to focus on Wave 1 only or two-waves of product.Last updated:
The last 24 hours should be big ones, so there is a chance we will get very close to our final goal. The best thing to do is get on SM and let EVERYONE know handout the campaign in case there is someone you know who hasn't backed yet. Information is ammunition!
If you want to add-on to your pledge, there are two ways.
First, when backing. select the pledge level you want. Then, KS should ask you to select a total pledge amount. You can upgrade this amount for anything from the ADD-ON list right then. If you've already pledged, you can go to "manage my pledge" and then over pledge by any amount. You can over pledge for more than one pledge level, for individual add-ons, or just to cover your eventual shipping costs.
After the campaign we'll send you access to our pledge manager survey, where you will verify everything you want. You can also add more at that time, in case you missed an add-on or in case you need to wait for some time to go by to safely budget for what you want. be smart and be safe!Last updated:
That was a lesson we learned before. Any Campaign of 1000 people or more automatically goes to a pledge manager with us!
In fact, there is an entire UPDATE about the Pledge Manager, in case you have more questions!Last updated:
They will be drawn from the Clan Invasion and the first 2-4 Clan Star Packs. Basically, the ones that will be done in time for the First Wave of product.
All Salvage Box 'Mechs will be Clan.Last updated:
We have partnered up with Quartermaster Logistics to help us deliver all materials in a timely fashion and with the best shipping rates possible.
Wave 1 should ship in March 2020 and will include the CI Box, as many Mech Packs as we can finish, and almost all of the other SWAG.
Wave 2 will then ship at the very end, after all Mech Packs are complete, and will contain anything that didn't ship in Wave 1.Last updated:
YES! They will all go through the redesign process. That means new concept art and then new 3D digital sculpts.Last updated:
There will be at least a few different poses. We are not sure how many yet, and we are working in very tight quarters on that base! We will do out best!Last updated:
Anything that does not say "EXCLUSIVE" will almost certainly show up and conventions and on our website. All of the "Box sets" will eventually make it too retail. The Clan Invasion box and Mech Packs should all make it to retail. Eventually.Last updated:
There are two. One Clan, one Inner Sphere. We hope to have a design available to show soon.Last updated:
The Mech Packs will be doubled.Last updated:
Yes. The whole idea here is that you will become part of the BattleTech universe. As a canon character, you will get to name a character and may provide a short bio. Faction. Unit. Mech. HOWEVER, if you want this to be your "character" and not you specifically, that is fine as well. Just provide a short description or other reference photo.
We reserve editorial rights to prevent obscenities or internet goofiness. No Boaty McBoatface!
With custom art, we will ask you for a photo to base the sketch on and it will also be used in a sourcebook our other product in order to permanently add your likeness into the lore of BattleTech.
Please be patient. We expect to have several hundred, even a thousand, characters from this. It will take time, and we will naturally start with higher pledge levels. It's a truly incredible undertaking, but we will find a way!Last updated:
If you have "canon character" but not "custom art" can you be a Pilot Card? (and other questions on Canon Character usage)
If you name a canon character (and you may be able to provide faction requests and other information) that character will only be used in text. Sourcebook entries and characters who might show up in fiction stories.
If you ALSO get the custom artwork, you might show up in areas with jsut your artwork (sourcebook drop ins) or jsut your name (fiction, sourcebook entries) or both (MechWarrir Pilot cards!)
There are no guarantees how long it might take to get to everyone or what level of fame or notoriety you may achieve. Obviously, higher pledge levels will get some priority, but in the end out goal will be to provide a fun experience for everyone! So that may take some time.Last updated:
No. Stretch Goals have made them BETTER. But we aren't allowed to go in and edit that text.Last updated:
That power unlocked at the $1.5M stretch goal. So, yes! however many Mech Packs you have coming to you can be whatever you want!Last updated:
We are working to estimate that with different pledge managers and fulfillment companies. Here is what we've gathered so far:
Depending on the country, a STAR CAPTAIN pledge with a couple of small add-ons is looking to run about $20-ish. CGL pays the freight and VAT (when needed) to get it into the country. If the Mech Packs chosen necessitate a second wave, that would be $12-14 as well. So, worst case, around $30-34. but perhaps much better. [this is four countries where we can pay to get it in, also known as 'customs-friendly]
For larger pledges, and especially those who require a larger second-wave... Let's say STAR COLONEL with 8 Mech Pack add-ons (full set) 2 BattleMats and a half dozen faction packs to keep it interesting. This varies a lot more, but the average looks to be coming in at $27.50 (+/-$5) for the first wave, and $18.50-ish on the second wave.
Our goal is to get this locked down with hard costs very soon. but we wanted you to see what we are seeing. Please note: these are current estimates on average pledge. A lot of places charge per-piece handling fees so adding 24 sets of dice can skew the handling fees, but they are so light they hardly bump the weight costs.
As we know more, so will you!Last updated:
We went through and recounted. With the "ad hoc" star pack that went up recently, there are 93! (earlier count put us erroneously at 92). This does not include the Elementals or the desk statues.Last updated:
Yes! CrowdOx has assured us that their new system features will support this. They will be called "bundles," but they amount to the same thing. You will not be able to substitute items inside a bundle, jsut as you can't do substitutions inside a reward level. Also, they will be exempt from our Merchant Caste discount because of the heavy discounting already done inside the bundle.Last updated:
We're calling this one a twofer. Yes, to both! The CrowdOx system allows you to increase your pledge amount during the post-campaign setting, as well as adjust your backer reward level and add-ons.Last updated:
There is no option during the Kickstarter campaign to offer any option except credit/debit card processing, charged immediately once the project ends. This is done by Kickstarter, via stripe, so please be sure your correct and most up to date card information is added in Kickstarter.
Once the project is over we will sent out CrowdOx surveys, for you to manage your pledge. In this survey you will be able to increase your pledge level, select from a great selection of extras and exclusive add-ons, and also will take care of your shipping address and charges. This gives you a chance to pay for these extras and shipping (and only your shipping, if no extras) all in a different pay period than the Kickstarter pledge.
For the first few weeks we will only accept cards in CrowdOx, but after about 2-3 weeks, will continue to allow cards and will also accept PayPal for another convenient way to increase your pledge level, add extras, and deal with shipping costs.Last updated:
