TOME is a biennial anthology in an oversized format showcasing world-class and emerging artists from diverse disciplines as they explore a single, esoteric theme. TOME is made by artists with artists for the artist within us all.
The book is a massive 12x18" and 200 pages with an inserted music CD! This large format lets the art be presented and experienced in a way that would be almost impossible outside of standing in front of the original work itself.
For TOME Volume 2, we will focus on the theme of MELANCHOLIA, the condition more akin to the alchemical phases the psyche passes through for our individuation and evolution…aka NOT depression or mourning, but something far more essential and ultimately beneficial to us all. The artist is born into a state of inspired MELANCHOLIA and exists within it. They bring back their experiences to us, providing those images, symbols, and light posts for our collective benefit, so that we may learn and not have to go through what it is that they have gone through. Our belief is that this influences the collective in a deeply meaningful and critical way, that this determines a society and culture's ultimate health, well-being, growth, and relevance.
Featured Artists in TOME 2 will each have 6-8 pages to present to us their "Hero's Journey" taken on our collective behalf. The works presented in TOME 2 will be a meticulous selection of pieces by artists leading up to a current piece or pieces that they're working on, completing a compressed arc in an attempt to at least in part represent their individual journey, discoveries, and resolutions to date.
As part of each Featured Artist's contribution, they'll have an interview or discussion with another artist to continue the articulation of their artistic exploration as related to the theme.
And we have some exciting news about TOME 2…the amazing Last Rites Gallery in NYC will be having a TOME 2 gallery show opening September 28 that TOME Curator/Editor Kasra Ghanbari will co-curate with them. And on October 12 during the New York Comic Con, we're throwing a party at Last Rites with many of the TOME 2 artists present…and you're all invited!
Our goal at 44FLOOD is to get you involved through this Kickstarter campaign to help make TOME 2 a reality, just like you did so incredibly with TOME Volume 1! We're asking for your support through pre-ordering TOME 2 and it's companion book EXPLICITUS EST LIBER 2 at a big discount to their retail price, as well as purchasing the offered art and prints, selecting from the special rewards offered, or even making a donation.
Thank you so much for your time, consideration, and support!
CONTACT US IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS!
The TOME 2 Kickstarter campaign is being run by 44FLOOD's Tyler Crane and Nick Idell.
At 44FLOOD, we like to run Kickstarters where the pledges don't simply accumulate one after another, but where the pledges are specifically created to get you more of exactly what you want!
So always feel free to email Tyler and Nick through Kickstarter if you have any questions, are interested in upgrading your pledges, or if you have any requests for new/different pledges. We are here to help you in any way that we can!
DOMESTIC & INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING
All rewards have U.S. shipping and handling already included!
International supporters, please add additional stated amounts in each pledge for international shipping and handling to either Canada or everywhere else in the world. We know the amounts may seem high at first, but please realize that TOME is both large and heavy. We did a country-by-country breakdown of the actual package and weight to determine these rates.

Risks and challenges
44FLOOD has already secured partial financing for the development, design, printing, and promotion of this project. We're seeking to raise the additional minimum amount needed to go forward with creating this project. In the case that such monies aren't raised, then we will seek external financing from one of a number of sources. Regarding the fulfillment of all pledges, we've gained considerable experience from two prior successful Kickstarter campaigns, including TOME Volume 1, and have the book printer, printmaker, packaging designs, and fulfillment process for shipping already in place. The contents of, and contributors to, the anthology TOME 2 are subject to change as production continues, though we'll do our very best to keep everyone up-to-date on TOME's development during the entire Kickstarter campaign.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
