The Film
BOKEH, a science fiction drama, stars Maika Monroe (Labor Day, At Any Price, The Bling Ring) and Matt O’Leary (Eden, The Lone Ranger, Brick). Shot entirely in Iceland, this meditative, delicate fable is about the values of life and living. The couple in this story are forced to think about the brevity of life on the planet and thus have a harder time making better choices. The story balances the universal theme of love while displaying the loneliness that exists with being in love.
Bokeh is the blur, the out of focus part of the photo. In life, we choose what we focus on and what we blur. Our film tells the story of two people who continue to change their priorities, their ideals, their focus based on their world disappearing. They are defined not just by what they focus on, but what they choose to blur.

Why We Need Your Help
Now that the film is shot, we need additional funds in order to get through post-production. These costs include paying for an editor, sound design and mixing, visual effects, color correction and securing music rights.
We’ve Met Our Goal, Now What? - Every dollar we make during the Kickstarter campaign will go directly into making BOKEH a better film. Every additional dollar we make past our initial goal will help us immensely. We will be able to put more resources into Visual Effects - Help make sure that every frame with Riley and Jenai alone in the world is empty. Sound - Add more time to ADR (rerecord some of the audio with Maika and Matt) and foley (record some of the sounds that are missing from the film). Music - We have a specific vision for the music and want to make sure that we bring on the right individuals to help us achieve it.
We are the first contributors to this film.
Simply put, making a feature film costs money and making a feature film in Iceland costs a lot of money. We decided to invest our own dollars into making BOKEH. If we weren’t willing to invest in ourselves, why should you back our project? Between contributing our own dollars, bringing on investors and receiving grants from Iceland we were able to finish the production phase of the film and begin post-production.
On our best days, not only is filmmaking a collaborative process, it is empowering a creative community to make a better film than the one we envisioned. Ideas are ok, but being able to take a good idea and make it something real, that is what we admire. This is why the Kickstarter community is so important to us; because the community may believe in potential, but ultimately it supports completing a project.
--- Stretch Goals ---
1st Stretch Goal - $45,000 - When we hit $45,000, every backer gets a digital copy of the musical score.

Please Spread The Word
It took a creative community to get this far and it will take a larger community to see this project to completion. We hope that you will invite other people you know by email to support BOKEH on Kickstarter.
Every contribution counts. Thank you for your contribution.
Risks and challenges
The good news, we shot the film and that is the hardest part. The main risk of any post-production process is time. The more time we take, the more everything will cost. Fortunately we have festival submission deadlines hovering over our heads and that will force us to meet our goals.
After completing post-produciton, we will pursue distribution. Once we find our distributor, there may be delays in delivering DVDs and the availability of streaming as the distributor may want to wait until after theatrical release. However, we will get these rewards to our supporters as soon as humanly possible.
