Susan, Kate and Pandora are trapped in a futuristic reality television show on a city wide scale. There's evil ninjas, giant robots and liberal amounts of awesome.
Issue one had the three dealing with the loss of a super-science device to the bad guys, and issue two saw Susan facing off against a giant robot.
This is where we pick up.
A 22 page comic, amazingly colored, combining the skills of John Fleming, Collette Turner and J-Skipper into a story set in the near future. We've done this before, and are doing it again.
This is going to be a great comic.
We've successfully run two kickstarters, and we're back.
As for issue three, pages are in the works. Some are already inked, colored, lettered and ready to print. We're planning a limited first printing, the number of issues in that printing depending on how well this Kickstarter does. This comic, and any variant of our first printing will not be exclusive to Kickstarter, but other copies will be rare.
If you missed our previous Kickstarters, this is the next best place to be.
Where's the money going?
Well, we've upped our fundraising goal to cover the increased costs of printing. Primarily, we'll be using money raised to cover these expenses, and shipping. Any additional money we make will be applied to the costs of coloring and paying for guest artists.
Once all that's sorted... we'll see.
John is a Canadian writer, letterer, educator and all around agent of chaos. He isn't really sure what shame feels like, dances in public and loves playing devil's advocate.
Born and educated in the UK, Collette studied 3D animation and dabbled in wildlife art before falling in love with comics. She's been stuck ever since. She's currently taking the reigns on the Rothic title Southern Nightgown and does additional work for Action Lab, and Coffin Comics.
The coloring figure known is J-Skipper is a coloring powerhouse. He (actually a ‘they’) is a very talented set of brothers, who additionally do work for DC on Suicide Squad and Harley Quinn. Their colors are vibrant, perfect for this project.
You might've noticed that some of the tiers include an item called the surprise pack. We've had requests for some additional variants, and I've acquired some awesome original art from different artists doing their takes on our three main characters, so we'll be combining these things. Surprise packs are going to include one item each.
That one item will be one of the following three options:
- A black and white variant of Collette Turner's inks from the C cover.
- A metal cover variant, the cover art having been printed on a very cool sheet of metal rather than just paper. It adds an amazing shine to the art, and we're not planning on making many.
- One of the pieces of original art we have had done for these packages. Odds will be between 1/8 and 1/10. Art by Rob Duenas (Sketchcraft), Cottony Hotchkiss, and Mathieu Reynes.
Add-ons are additional items you might want
- Physical Copy of Issue 1 A cover $10
- Physical Copy of Issue 2 A cover $5
- Issue 2 Limited run leather patch $25 (see photo, only 3 remaining)
- Issue 3 Limited run leather patch $25
- Issue 1 PDF $2
- Issue 2 PDF $2
- Additional Surprise Packs $30 (Limited Supply)
- SOLD OUT Collette Turner Cover Remarks $20 (Limited to 5, one per person)
Please remember to both message and confirm availability of physical rewards before increasing your backer amount, and remind us of the add-on on the survey while we're doing fulfillment. We do our best, but we don't want to miss anything.
We've made our goal and a little more. At this point we'd like to extend an extra little thank you to all our backers, so we'll be sending all the backers getting physical rewards one of three vinyl stickers/decals.
At this point we've covered the cost of printing, paid the colorist and hopefully have 'something' for paying additional guest artists, so, giving back to you guys, we'll have foil numbering done on all our colored B and C covers.
(At this point we'll also be numbering the ultra-rare black and white sets)
Additional print. We've already secured the services of the awesome Jasmin Darnell to complete a stretch goal print for us, and have high expectations of the piece. We'll be sending out mini-prints to all backers at the $10 and higher tiers. If anyone wants something of a larger or special format, we'll be open to making arrangements.
Finished back cover.
We're going to give the A cover version of the comic a full back cover, which just makes these comics so much cooler. No advertisement, just more art for your enjoyment.
We'll be producing a small number of Badassical magnets with the design below, and all backers at the $40 and up tiers will be getting one for free. Otherwise it'll be an inexpensive add on. All using the following art.
We're going to be printing and providing a Badassical bookmark to send out to all our backers at the $16 dollar and up tiers... Now I just need to find some art I like for those...
We love including sketches and rougher artwork in books, and we're going to do the same this time. Some might be character design work, con sketches, just the best of what we can share.
This is going to a Kickstarter exclusive, of one of the ladies. A little extra we can give to all our backers getting physical rewards.
We've recently (this morning) partnered with Zenescope Entertainment artist Manuel Preitano. Manuel is going to be doing a short side story along with myself, and this will be provided to all backers in PDF format. Limited print copies could happen too.
We're going to produce a small art book for backers highlighting some of the very cool covers, prints and various sketches we've had done as part of this project. Might even throw in some samples of art we've been given. Everyone will be getting a pdf copy, and we're planning a hard copy for everyone getting a tier with secure shipping.
(Notes on postage)
Any of the lower tiers that include basic postage are comics in envelopes, with some efforts made to protect the comics. We can not be responsible if an item is bent, folded or otherwise damaged. Many of the higher tiers include postage with more packaging to protect the comics and any comic art.
We may not be able to provide tracking or insurance on items leaving North America, but we will make sure that they're securely packaged
If anyone wants local delivery to a tier we're it's not provided as an option, or delivery to a convention we're booked to attend (in 2018, possibly after Sept 2017 within Canada) please just message me to try make arrangements.
(Notes on page choices)
We'll be giving backers choice of their pages via a draw, all backers getting to pick their own given the same odds of getting their first choice of regular story interior pages (among all backers/buyers).
The above covers are mock-ups and may not be the version going to final printing.
Risks and challenges
Together, Collette and I have successfully ran and fulfilled two kickstarters, and at this point we feel that risks are minimal, unless problems come up with a third party, either printers or postage, or significant health issues from someone on the creative team we should be good to go.
We will make every effort to make this comic not only happen, but bigger and better than the last two. We're dedicated to this project, and outside of the risks mentioned above, we're doing this thing.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
