Dear MU Scholars,

 .

Vale Greg Stafford (1948 - 2018)

It has been a time of shock and grief at Chaosium this past week, following the sudden death of our beloved company founder, Greg Stafford, on October 11. Our thoughts and prayers are with Suzanne, Greg’s children Noah, Alisha, and Jason, and their families.

Greg's long-standing impact on the world of tabletop gaming has been revolutionary, to the point RPG designer John Wick coined "Stafford's Law" - "If you believe you've come up with a clever rule for RPG design, Greg Stafford already did it".

Greg's first-ever release was a board game, White Bear Red Moon in 1975. Among the many wonderful fruits of his imagination and creativity, it was a pleasure for us to bring Greg together with another revolutionary designer, Renier Knizia, for Khan of Khans, Chaosium's return to making board games in 2016. Here's Greg demoing the game at Gen Con that year:

Condolence Thread at BRP Central

We have posted an obituary announcement for Greg Stafford on the Chaosium website: Vale Greg Stafford (1948 - 2018).

We have also created a special Condolence Thread at our BRP Central forums for messages from the gaming community of condolence, and remembrance, and celebration, about Greg Stafford.

If you would like to show your appreciation for his life and legacy, or express your feelings, or pay your respects, please feel free to leave a note there. Greg's wife Suzanne and his family know that he was greatly loved, respected and revered in the gaming community all over the world, and they have the link to this thread to read your posts when they are ready.
