The Conation Collective is a new mountain bike apparel line made in America. We've taken suggestions from riders around the industry and designed the best fitting, best functioning clothes on the market. Light-weight materials from Europe and Australia are brought together in America for design, printing, and production.
The sport of mountain biking was founded on innovation and entrepreneurialism – people that liked riding bikes took a look the terrain they wanted to ride, and the equipment available, and then built a better product. The Conation Collective aims to revive that spirit and produce the clothing you need to enjoy your time in the saddle even more.
We've gone through several rounds of printing proofs, prototyping, and sampling in the past 8 months and are getting very close to launching.
Just click one of the rewards in the right hand column, or put together a whole new riding kit, and you'll be supporting an emerging American company. We will collect people's garment sizes at the completion of the Kickstarter. Every one of the rewards is proudly made in the USA.
Where's the money go?
100% of the funds raised through Kickstarter will be used for production of the clothing. This mainly consists of purchasing fabrics, sublimation printing, and cut-and-sew production, with a few other incidentals such as shipping costs and buying snaps, interfacing, etc.
We’ll be starting with 8 pieces, detailed below.
Merino wool v-neck teeshirt with a longer torso for full coverage when in the riding position. Available in striped navy blue and striped forest green.
Western shirt made from light-weight stretchable fabric. Details like pearl snaps and cuffed sleeves make this a style piece. Available in a blue/green plaid, or with a vintage flower print from the talented Boulder artist Stacy Jo (StacyJoArt.com).
Baggy shorts made from 4-way stretchable fabric featuring a raised rear belt line for coverage and faux-fly design to minimize weight. Available in brown with pinstripes or straight black.
Mountain bike bib shorts. You read that correctly - bib shorts. Here’s why: bib shorts are awesome. They don’t pinch your stomach, they support more of your body, and they’re super comfortable. A lot of people we talked to were actually wearing road bibs under their mountain bike baggies so we built a dedicated mountain bike bib short. We’re bucking the trend of price-point driven liner shorts that offer no padding or support, so our chamois are mountain bike specific with ventilation perforations and shock absorbing inserts. We also lowered the front opening - with baggies over top there’s no reason for modesty and it makes life easier when nature calls. Finally, we added some pockets to the back - not a roadie race-radio pocket but actual pockets that fit a tube, CO2, tool, and some food in case you want to skip the hydration pack on a shorter ride but still need the essentials. Available in an ultrathin synthetic stretchable fabric or merino wool mesh fabric.
Coolmax and Merino wool socks with a 5-inch cuff. These are made in Colorado with industry-leading 200-needle looms for an unmatched feel on skin.
Risks and challenges
The Conation Collective has faced our share of setbacks, but we waited to bring the project to the public until we felt most of them had been ironed out. If unforeseen challenges present themselves we will deal with them in a way that maintains quality and pricing for our customers.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
