Basecamp will be the most central climbing gym in Toronto. It will have a finished height of nearly 40', making it the tallest indoor climbing centre in the city.

Basecamp will cater to every type of climber featuring overhangs, face climbing, slab, and a big prow for lead climbs. Almost every route in the gym will allow for either top rope, or lead climbing so you can climb the way you want.

Basecamp was designed for growth. Our U shape with a middle island wall allows for future expansion of the gym. More time, more climb.

Currently for people without cars, getting to a climbing gym is somewhat of a hassle. Being a three minute walk from Christie subway station allows for a quick convenient ride regardless of the weather.

Basecamp is in a fantastic part of the city. Food, drinks, board games, karaoke and a beautiful park are all within a five minute walk. Being right downtown makes it convenient to get in a climbing session, no matter where you're heading next!

Our goal at Basecamp is to create a community. With so many great locations in such close proximity, it'll be easy to make friends and hang out, even after the climb.

Each of these chalk bags will be hand made and completely unique. Will feature the Basecamp Logo and be filled with chalk.

We will be restoring the Metro Marquee to look very similar to the old one. Take this incentive and we will put text of your choice up for a month (Remember, PG 13)

Bring your skills to the real rock of southern Ontario and camp out under the stars. Food, transportation, and fun provided!

Risks and challenges
I have been searching for the perfect building for over 5 years now. Most buildings that have the potential to house a rock climbing gym are so far out of the way that only people with vehicles would be able to get there. The goal through this entire project has been simple: make climbing accessible, for everyone.
Over a year ago I came upon the Metro Theatre at 677 Bloor St W. For years this building has stood out as an eyesore to the community, and I realized there was a chance to do something positive with the space. To take something that was having a negative impact on the area and change it into something that helped people stay active and have a blast doing it. After taking a few cautious steps inside and taking a look up I realized that this was to be the future home of Basecamp.
Now over a year later, having gone through committees of adjustments, zoning changes, architects and engineers; we are so close to making this dream a reality. We are in the final stretch, however still need to reinforce some of the walls, restore the marquee, and finalize the payments of the climbing walls. We need $25,000 more to make this happen. So pledge now, and see the incredible transformation your donations will make possible.
