What we want to change:
No more HEAVY Duty Lock: Bike locks now are clunky, large, and can be quite inconvenient.
Share: The more we share, the more we have.
Wireless security: Unique cipher module makes Bluetooth communication much safer from interception.
No additional rack: Just fits in your bike.
Speedy: Pull out the cable, and lock. Touch the sensor, and unlock.
KADALOCK is an innovative concept of the bicycle lock. Unlike the traditional U-shape lock or heavy-duty lock, KADALOCK uses the extended space of the water bottle cage for convenient lock placement. Along with the Bluetooth digital key in the mobile phone, KADALOCK eradicates the inconvenience of carrying the physical keys around. Anti-theft feature of KADALOCK includes a built-in 80dB alarm functioning under the locked status if the bicycle is moved or the locking cable is cut.
KADALOCK automatically activates when the user touches the body of the lock, otherwise remain in sleep mode to reduce energy consumption. Once awaken, KADALOCK will establish wireless transmission to the user’s smartphone, then request for digital code that authorizes the unlocking of KADALOCK.
KADALOCK generates keys itself, by using an unique cipher module, makes a whole new idea into connected devices. See more in update 2
The estimated weight of the lock body is only 250g (without bottle cage), and the cable has 120cm length that is sufficient to contain two bicycles. KADALOCK has “lock removal prevention” as one of the anti-theft feature, the mounting bolts are well shielded Attempting to remove the lock or the cable will result in the activation of the alarm.
The lock has rechargeable Lithium battery that can be on standby for 1 year. Once the KADALOCK is locked, the full charged battery could be functional for around 11 days under locked status. Sleeping mode and touch-and-awake features are provided for longer battery usage.
KADALOCK is compatible with Android 4.3 and up (Android 5 is recommended for full function support), or iOS 7 and up
Key sharing and our little gimmickKADALOCK V.S. other smart devices
- The offline services of KADALOCK does not require any online registration prior to the use.
- The generation of key is conducted in the KADALCOK; to share the key, the owner can either upload the key to our service center or share the key via other communication means, such as NFC.
- Time limits are set prior to the activation of the guest keys, and the owner is free to add password or max operation count.
- Digital keys are stored in the lock body, so the keys can be made invalid by removing them from the authorized list.

Risks and challenges
We have heard many Android 4.x mobile phones do not support full function of Bluetooth 4.0, lacking of peripheral mode for communication, thus we might choose Android 5 to release android version app.
The development progress goes smoothly, but not fully tested.
Bluetooth module has to register certifications, such as FCC and BQB, it will takes 8 weeks to finish.
We need to export rewards from Taiwan, we need to figure out how to do the custom clearance and shipping procedure
