Ameritocracy is a strategic card game where players are campaigning to be the next President of the United States. It packs deep strategic game play and playful art into one box along with six white stripes, seven red stripes, and a heck of a lot of stars.
- It's both a satire and an homage to American Politics. It captures the excitement of running a campaign without being negative or partisan.
- It has 50 unique and incredible pieces of art.
- The base rules are simple, making it approachable for new gamers.
- But there are lots of cards and combinations that allow advanced gamers to dig into a deep strategic experience.
Ameritocracy combines the depth and variability of a trading card game with the elegant mechanics of a worker-placement board game. We've playtested hundreds of times with a diverse group of people to ensure it's fun for both casual and competitive gamers.
Each game is a tight race until the end. There's an ebb and flow of the political cycle. You can build a powerful campaign engine, but no single card or combo will win you the game. The unique mechanics of the game create interesting tension in deciding when to build up, and when to go for the glory of the win.
The art for the game is amazing! We worked with four talented artists to bring to life the world of American politics, shown from on high, as if from the eye of a bald eagle, and shown from down low, in the muck of political scandals.
The art centers around 4 fictional candidates, inspired by the wide sea of personalities of the American political arena.
You can check out the portfolios of the artists we worked with here:
"As the owner of a game store on Capitol Hill, I’ve played many politically themed games, and I frequently get asked to try new games. I was unexpectedly pleased after trying Ameritocracy. It is a well designed game that really does justice to its theme. I will definitely be carrying it in the store when it gets published, and I look forward to playing it often in the future."
- Kathleen Donahue, Owner, Labyrinth Games & Puzzles, Washington DC
"I generally hate politically themed games. They just feel hollow, gimmicy, or made by people who know nothing about a campaign. "I read a book, and now I know about campaigns!"
This game feels different. This game is easy to play and learn, but with a lot of depth. My favorite part about it is that it FEELS LIKE I AM RUNNING A CAMPAIGN!"
- Matt Johnson, Financial Analyst, Democratic National Committee
"I played the beta test and this game is incredibly deep! It's a game I found myself wanting to play 3+ times in a session because each game I learned a new interaction and wanted to try it out ASAP."
- Seth Allison, Game Designer, Scopely
"Highly enjoyable. It's a lot of fun."

"Ameritocracy is a hand management game which has a lot of Smash Up and Race for the Galaxy in it. There are a lot of elements I wish Smash Up had and may very well become a house variant for me based on this one game. I think the theme is tired, but the gameplay is well worth overcoming that."

We're sure you'll like this game, so we'd love to have you try it out!
We are really excited for you to get a chance to play Ameritocracy! We've spent over two and a half years crafting a rich, engaging game. We've supported the design, development, and art costs out of our own pockets, but now we need money to get it printed!

Four Beautiful Kickstarter-Only HQ Cards
These large-format HQ cards are a special gift to the backers who purchased the game.
We love playing Ameritocracy, and we'd love to play it with each and every one of you.
But unfortunately, we're only two people. Doing the math, we realize can't possibly play the game with everyone we'd need to in order make our goal. So for backers of the campaign, we've decided to do the next best thing – a money-back guarantee.
We know you'll love this game too. But if you don't enjoy the game in your first month of having it. Send it back to us, and we'll send you your money back. No strings attached.
We've worked hard to find shipping partners to make shipping affordable to the Canada and the EU, along with our fair nation. If you'd like us to add your country to shipping, get in touch and we'll see what we can do.
We've been playing all sorts of card games and board games since we were young. We met playing Magic: The Gathering at the same comic book shop in San Francisco, and for the past two and a half years have worked on this small card game that captured all the things we love about our favorite games.
Risks and challenges
The game is designed and all the art is complete except for the pieces going to backer rewards in this campaign. Since the game is pretty much done, we're confident we can deliver the game in a relatively quick time frame.
We've spent over six months researching and creating spreadsheets to track printing and shipping options. We have plans and contingency plans depending on the way this campaign goes. Right now, our plan is to print the game through Panda Game Manufacturing, and ship using Wayland Games (U.K.), and Starlight Citadel (U.S., Canada.)
Of course, challenges may arise, but we feel we've accounted for everything we could conceive of and built in a plan to address it.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
