We'll be the first to say that riding Onewheel is quite different from riding a skateboard or longboard. It's much more like snowboarding on powder or riding a wave. It's a magical feeling of moving through the world just by leaning your body and letting the hub motor and balancing algorithms propel you.
Yes it is - you can order a board on Kickstarter right now! We dream of having Onewheel riders all over the world. Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to cover the cost of international shipping during our first production run, but If you invest in a Onewheel we will absolutely ship it to you!
Yes it can! According to the spec sheet, the Onewheel can climb hills with up to a 10% gradient. This means the Onewheel can go up most hills and ramps, but not some of those monster hills we find in nearby San Francisco. The Onewheel has plenty of pop to get up bigger hills, the issue is that the front of the board is lowered when the rider is going forward, and on a steep enough gradient, the tip of the board will actually scrape the ground. However, we are currently working on increasing its climbing ability.
The gokart tires used on the Onewheel are super durable. We've been running them for almost 5 years now on prototypes, and have not had any problems with them. However, in the event a tire is damaged the entire tire assembly drops out of the frame by simply removing the 4 bolts on the frame. When the dust settles a bit we will post a video demonstrating how to do this exchange yourself. Additionally, you could always visit any lawnmower, gokart, or car tire establishment where they should be able to replace the tire with ease.
We have been receiving a tremendous amount of interest from potential sales representatives both at national and international levels. We very much appreciate the interest however, we are not in a position to begin considering our sales distribution model until we complete our first production cycle of Onewheels to our our Kickstarter Backers. All sales distribution inquiries should be directed to our email address. Thanks!
When the Onewheel reaches brick and mortar stores, retailers will mark it up as they do with all other commodities. This means that the starting price of $1,299 offered on Kickstarter is the best deal around and will be for the foreseeable future. If you're interested, now is the time!
