Dojo is a fast paced, martial arts, card-drafting, character building contest of smashing your friends and trying to earn HONOR from the MASTERS of the DOJO.
When the game begins, you choose a Fighting Style which will have unique abilities that your opponents won't have. You can choose to advance down the Fire path or the Water path during your training.
The Fire side offers more explosive and aggressive abilities, while the Water side employs strength through control. Either option can lead your fighter to victory over your opponents.
Once the training begins in the DOJO, all players begin to develop their fighter, to do this there are two phases of play during the DOJO -"Training" and "Sparring".
During the Training Phase you can do Drills to improve your basic stats; Strength, Dexterity, and Chi. You study Techniques, which can be used multiple times during combat but expend your energy. You may also plan Tricks which are one time use and will likely catch your opponents off-guard.
Your opponents will also be building up their arsenal against you, so be prepared! There are no "hidden" cards in DOJO which means you can see the strategy that your opponents may be taking and plan ahead during your training.
The MASTERS of the DOJO watch over training, and if you please them, they may award you Honor at the end of the Training round.
During the sparring phase you use the tricks, techniques, and drills that you've learned to take on your opponents head-to-head. You can additionally use the abilities that your Fighting Style grants you.
When Sparring begins, the combatants "Size-Up" each other, betting energy to see who will get the first strike.
Every opponent you knock out will earn you Honor and bring you one step closer to becoming MASTER OF THE DOJO!
STRMOD goes the extra mile to create characters that represent as many people as possible. We're putting our supporters into the game as well.
DOJO is based on the martial art taught by this school. The Wu Chi School of Self Defense is based in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

All Kickstarter backers will be receiving a premium print of DOJO. This is going to include the following in the base set:
DOJO premium components:
6 Fighting Styles
Full Training deck(120+ cards)
6 Abaci (yes I had to google the plural form of "abacus)
12 six-sided dice
Risks and challenges
We've still got a lot of art to put together, including involving our backers as subjects on the cards themselves! Because we're trying to involve our backers feedback, we'll need be adjusting the game right up until we go to print.
We'll be making decisions on components to track hit points, energy, and honor. We're considering using customized pieces by using a 3d printing technology. How much of a budget we have for these things will be largely determined by the fundraising that we receive.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
