Thank you for your support and your trust in us. However, as you can see, it is very unlikely that we will be able to reach our target, and therefore we are cancelling our Kickstarter campaign.
This does not mean that we are quitting Sense and our mission – in fact, it prompts us to double our efforts to put this product into your hands.
Until then, subscribe to our mailing list on http://nydeum.com and be up-to-date with our progress!
As relentless inventors we are always convinced there is a better way.
Keyboards in the living room are out of place, smartwatches and smart TVs don't have meaningful input solutions and Virtual Reality needs a dedicated controller.
These are just a few spaces Nydeum has tackled.
To solve these issues we came up with a controller which is better for doing just about everything where typing speed isn't the most important factor.
Imagine how frequent activities such as browsing, online-shopping, instant messaging and even coding could be much more enjoyable and efficient if we weren't chained to a desk.
Our solution is a one-handed keyboard and an amazing new type of air mouse combo: Nydeum Sense.
Come and join us on our mission to perfect the control device which can rise up to challenges of the digital revolution.
Programmable areas help you complete all functions on a keyboard and mouse.
There are four sensor areas around the track and the mouse has three unique areas which do different things when you interact with them.
Gestures and swipes can also be programmed to achieve full, seamless control of whatever you love to do.
Nydeum Sense works with all your electronic devices compatible with a keyboard or a mouse. It combines the first highly accurate air mouse with a brand new writing system which we invented and patented. The touch interface on both sides allows for precise typing and control.
Nydeum Sense employs a new, easy-to-learn alphabet we patented to communicate faster with devices.
The alphabet is made up of letters written with one finger and a few simple movements among the grooves of the fixed track. Each letter resembles the shape of the letter in the corresponding alphabet. Numbers and punctuation marks can also be written by simply switching modes. Thanks to our muscle memory, this makes for an efficient digital language.
It's fast to learn, mass testing is pending but 30mins is enough for our team!
We have also developed an application providing you with a tutorial to help you become an effective Sense user in no time. Our software provides real-time letter suggestions by reading the movement of your finger on the track.
Make Sense work for you! Customize at will
The magic of Nydeum Sense is that it does not restrict you to any given language. It also serves as a customizable platform for you to develop your own language and digital alphabet which best fits your habits and needs.
Nydeum Sense can be synchronized with all keyboard and mouse compatible devices. It is operational on all popular platforms including OS X, Windows, Android and Linux.
We also created an app, which includes a character library where you can download characters others have developed and upload ones you have created. Access to the program is gained by entering the unique registration number you receive with your Nydeum Sense device.
Inside the device we have used a very thin and flexible printed circuit board (PCB), which is folded in half to take the shape of our Nydeum Sense device.
Upcoming: VR, Smartwatches, Smartphones
Currently Nydeum Sense works well with:
-Smart TV's (enter URL, navigate apps, change content, browse)
-PC's (browsing, email writing, social media, chatting, coding, gaming, photo editing)
Nydeum Sense allows you to interact with others and update your social media quickly and smoothly.
Nydeum Sense has plenty of professional usage cases as well. The device is ideal for office use. Besides daily usage, it's great for showing off during a presentation.
And in case you're bored by that presentation, you can multitask in secret. Nydeum Sense is silent, there is no typing noise.
Control without being noticed
Nydeum Sense fits into your living room, bedroom, office or anywhere where you interact with smart devices. It can accompany you for the whole day and help you achieve relaxing control.
We will have multiple color variations
The working prototype in the 3D printed case:
Our determination to create a new and improved input device led us down many different paths. In 2011, we began to plan the development process with a small team of engineers. Our first priority was to design the best possible model for mobile writing. We started to create a device requiring both hands separately, with a total of 10 keys - one per finger - but using each hand for different simultaneous movement proved too difficult to learn.
The next step was a one-handed device modeled in clay with roughly 6 keys - four for each finger and two for your thumb. We understood that one-handed typing was the way to go, but we also believed we could do better. We replaced the keys that were assigned to our thumb with a small joystick on top of the device. As it turns out, joysticks are no good for writing as they have insufficient movement restrictions.
That was the turning point that led us to our discovery. Nydeum expanded its team and worked with mechanical engineers to develop an entirely new technology capable of recognizing one finger typing in existing smartphones and smartwatches. In the meantime, we collaborated with top industrial designers to simplify this technology in order to perfect the design of our stand alone input device that we set out to create in the first place. 3D printers were widely used as part of this process.
We understood that in order to continuously express our thoughts without speaking, we would need two things. To be familiar with specific symbols, or an alphabet – something easy to remember, and to be able to write them down on something – for example paper, a keyboard, a tablet, or a smartphone. We developed the fixed track, a circular surface allowing us to create an alphabet based on a predetermined combination of finger movements along the grooves of the track.
But just inventing a new writing system wasn't enough to get us away from our desks. We needed to rethink the mouse as well. Our technicians realized that to stop people from flailing around when trying to aim at a specific point on the screen, as they would with a traditional air mouse, we would need to re-model the inertia created by the friction between the mouse and the work surface, usually a table.
Once design was optimized, our Swiss programming team worked day and night on making the right micro-mechanical electronics fit our vision. We used a flexible printed circuit board, folded in half. Nydeum Sense represents the first generation of our breakthrough technology and perfected design.
Ever since, Nydeum’s development team has been working on advancing the technology and optimizing the user experience. The second generation of Nydeum technology will see the release of a remarkably elegant version of Sense we are calling the ComposeAir, the implementation of Nydeum technology in smartphones and smartwatches, and tablet compatibility. While designers are perfecting these manifestations, our developers are already hard at work on the third generation of Nydeum technology, but we're keeping that a secret for now. We can tell you one thing: it's going to blow your mind.
This is just the beginning. Smartwatches, VR and Smartphones are on the way!
We have 30 days to reach our fundraising goal. Your contribution will help us fine-tune the user experience and manufacture as many devices as you were promised. The finalized product will be shipped straight to your door in March 2017.

Risks and challenges
Our greatest challenge following a successful Kickstarter campaign will be to perfect the writing track and the air mouse for an effortless user experience with Nydeum Sense.
Even though our development team has been perfecting Nydeum technology for many years, we have never had to face the challenge of mass production and shipping. Naturally we will do our very best to fulfill all of our promises on time, but request your patience and understanding in the case of any unexpected delays. However, we are confident that by planning this far ahead, we will be able to ensure our first customers the very best experience Nydeum can offer.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
