First, a confession: I've been running ever behind, and I haven't been in touch with my backers as much as I would like. Let's see if I can fix that.
I've had a few backers ask about the status of the WTS. For the past few months, I've been focusing on getting the props mailed to backers. Recently, I ran out of one of the three sets of props that was supposed to go out. I still have the raw materials for those props, but assembly of those items was easily the most time-consuming aspect of getting the packages put together. Therefore, I have opted to mail out packages without said props. I will include information with the puzzles that indicates how those props (and the other two sets of artifacts) would appear in real life, with sufficient information to use them to solve the metapuzzles. I am sending out what I think is the last shipment of props tomorrow, but there may be some orders that slipped through the cracks. I have had a few packages returned for postage due, and there was some complication in printing out shipping labels, so if you haven't received your packages of props for What's That Spell by a week from today, please contact me and I will get things squared away for you.
That's the state of the props, but how about the puzzles? Well, the puzzles have been done for quite some time, but I wanted to get the props out first so people weren't stuck when they reached the first metapuzzle. However, since I will be including information about the props with the puzzles, I don't have much reason to withhold them anymore. I'm going to do a final pass to make sure everything is in order, but I plan to release the puzzles of What's That Spell this weekend. Get your pencils and solving buddies ready!
There is also one more set of bonus puzzles from the stretch goals. I am getting those puzzles edited, and I will keep you posted about the status of that set of bonus puzzles. Additionally, if you ordered extra puzzles as an add-on, I will go through my archives and select those puzzles once the main rewards have shipped.
I apologize for the stream of delays. The root of the issue has been my underestimation of the time and effort required to assemble 300+ sets of props. As I plan for the sequel to What's That Spell (spoiler: there will be a sequel!) I am trying to be aware of the issues I have had with this project. One thing that I'm trying to hold to is making sure that the props for the sequel do not require so much manual labor. We'll see how that turns out in the future, but for now, I look forward to sharing What's That Spell with you very soon!
