Shipping Update!

Posted by Kazu Kibuishi (Creator)

Hey everyone,

Jason here.  Just a quick update to let everyone know where we are with shipping.  We've sent out all of the books for the first two tiers of backers.  That includes Canadian and International orders for a single unsigned copy of the book.  Right now we're working our way through the HUGE list of signed copy backers, and we've shipped about half of the US orders in that tier already.

I've received a few emails about damaged books, and we've been sending out replacements to people who've gotten in touch as quickly as we're able.  Once again, I just want to stress to everyone that if your book has been damaged in shipping, PLEASE send me an email or a message and let me know.  We will replace the book ASAP.

I've also received a TON of emails from people who have received their books in great condition, and Kazu and I have been so happy to hear all of the kind words from people about the book.  I've had quite a few questions about other material that we've published, so I thought I would run through other content you can find from us.

First and foremost, Amulet is the series that we work on full time at the studio.  We do a new Amulet book every year (220 pages of full color comics!) and they're published by Scholastic under the Graphix banner.  We just released Amulet 5: The Prince of the Elves in September, and we're both incredibly proud of that book and the rest of the series.  You can find more information and previews of the first two books here:

Kazu's webcomic strip Copper was collected into a book and published by Scholastic a couple years ago. The book includes all of the strips published online, as well as a few short stories and process information. It's a really beautiful collection, especially if you're a fan of the strip.

We also recently launched a brand new all-ages anthology series with Abrams called Explorer.  The first volume, Explorer: The Mystery Boxes, was released in March 2012, and has seven different artists tackling the theme of a mystery box.  We wanted to introduce kids and parents to a variety of comic artists, as well as encourage the idea of kids telling their own stories.

Explorer is a spiritual successor to Flight, our anthology series that we wrapped up last year.  The Flight series is much broader and hard to pin down, as the books aren't governed by a theme.  Instead, we gave each of the artists complete freedom to tell the story they wanted to tell.  We wrapped up the series last year with Flight Volume 8.

And that's all we have right now!  Of course we have many other projects in the works which I'll be sure to keep you guys posted on, but if you're looking for more of Kazu's work that's where you can find it!

Speaking of Flight, Michel Gagne just launched a Kickstarter project to animate The Saga of Rex! Rex was first published in Flight volumes 2-7, then collected into a graphic novel published by Image Comics. Michel is an incredibly accomplished animator, his work is absolutely incredible, and he's a good friend of ours. So go check out the Kickstarter page and see if it's something you might be interested in backing! We think it's a really amazing project and can't wait to see an animated version of Rex.

So that's it!  We're still sending books out at a steady clip, working our way up through the pledge levels.  I'll be sure to keep you all posted on our progress.  If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to email me at jason(at), send me a tweet at @jcaffoe, or send a message on Kickstarter.  Thanks guys!

My copy just arrived in Canada! There's a tiny bit of creasing at the top right hand corner of the cover, that just as likely happened when it slipped out of my hands as I was getting the front door open, but nothing worse than what a few years of love would inflict. :)

Got mine yesterday. I have to admit for the look of the packaging, I was a bit worried, but the book itself was in perfect condition.

Got mine today! Aside from a slightly dinged spine and a very minor bend on the bottom corner, perfect! Thanks so much!

My book arrived today in excellent condition. I am very grateful that you put a 'DO NOT BEND' sticker on the package. I had purchased a book a while back from Amazon and the postal service bent and tore it trying to jam it into the mail box. Thank you for taking the time to pack it with care!

Wow, I had no idea you were the studio behind Flight. I have been following it for like the past 5 years now. Really good stuff.

I can vouch for the quality of all of Bolt City Productions' work. Very inspiring stuff. And thank you guys for the nice plug, I'll make sure to make you proud!

There is a teeny tiny ding on mine--don't even worry about it :) Now if I can just get an hour to myself to read it... that would be awesome!
